Bush will "stand with Minnesota residents as they recover"; says they are "decent"
Edited on Sat Aug-04-07 04:40 AM by Bluebear
Evidently the good people of New Orleans were not "decent" enough for him, as he refused to "stand" with them. They only got a flyover.

Be sure to note Laura's outpouring as well.
====

WASHINGTON - President Bush, who is still criticized for his administration's sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina, says he will stand with Minnesota residents as they recover from this week's bridge collapse.

The president on Saturday is taking an aerial tour over the I-35W bridge, which buckled Wednesday and sent dozens of cars sliding into the Mississippi River. He will be briefed on recovery efforts and meet with families and victims of the disaster that killed at least five people and injured about 100 others.

"This is a difficult time for the community in Minneapolis, but the people there are decent and resilient, and they will get through these painful hours," Bush said in his Saturday radio address. "As they do, they know that all of America stands with them, and that we will do all we can to help them recover and rebuild."

First lady Laura Bush visited Minneapolis on Friday to survey the wreckage of the bridge as rescue workers continued to search for bodies in the river. "Unbelievable," she said as she stood on a hill beside the eight-lane span, which once carried 141,000 vehicles a day.

1. "Unbelieveable" said the Stepford Wife
"Who could have foreseen that spending our entire treasury on futile wars would leave our own infrastructure in peril?"

21. He wouldn't show up except that there is a political fundraiser...
for Norm Coleman and he can write off the cost of flying him and Rove and twenty armor plated limos to Minnesota.

5. The unconscious vocabulary of the committed wingnut.
I stand with..."You're on your own, bud. If you make it, we will stand and cheer.

I take responsibility..."I have said the magic words about taking full responsibility. Now go away and stop annoying me.

I take FULL (angrily)..."I said I was gonna accept responsibility, DAMMIT! Now quit blaming me and leave me alone!

These are decent people, here..."Well, the republicans are ok. The rest of you butt shaggin' sick minded, sissy librul weenies can fall off the damn bridge. The world is a better/safer place."

These are good and decent people, here..."Now they can't complain because that shows they aren't good or decent. Heheh!"

8. bush is always rendering value judgments
It's either "good" or "bad." Of course Minnesotans are "good" and "decent"; they are upper midwesterners.

"We had a good talk."

"He has a good heart."

Now why bush says these things is a mystery to me. Why would any of us care what a sociopath/mass murderer thinks is "good" or "bad?"

26. Because Bush is The Decider of "good" and "bad" (the latter "want to kill your children").
It's where his psychopathy meets up with his megalomania.

10. I was sure he would. This bridge must ne needed for his NAFTA
super road, My guess is that most of the gas tax for roads is ending up building that new road some how under private corp. who will make the money. A major bridge near that road is a needed thing.

12. I am waiting to see how it will work in NE
My guess is that the trade will go into the Great Lakes to the St. Lawrence and down to NE from Can. so I am sure new roads will be needed in this part of the country. Any guess on just what is going on in this part of the country? The NAFTA super road is sort of on the back burner in all the news. I can see the battle for a super highway running in the middle of the White Mts. coming up once more.

31. This decent Minnesotan says George W. Bush is a hateful, hate-filled and hated animal.
Just the thought of him gallumping over dead bodies in order to score political points makes me sick to my stomach.

How much more of this are we supposed to be able to withstand?
