A letter to the editor of the Waco Tribune, from a dear friend.
Dear Editor,

Well, Grover Norquist, so called "field marshal" of the Bush Plan, got his wish. The federal government is drowning, not in a bathtub, instead it is in the mighty Mississippi, at each end. First in New Orleans and now in Minneapolis. What's next?

The tragedy is that American citizens pay the ultimate costs of Republican tax cuts for the rich. Instead of taking care of our infrastructure, providing healthcare, finding solutions to energy issues and climate change we spend obscene amounts on waging an unnecessary, immoral and illegal war and occupation so the military industrial corporate gangsters can empty the U.S. Treasury.

And this tragic experience will now be used as more argument for the schemes to privatize our highways and bridges so that only the wealthy can afford to use them.

Are we waking up yet?

6. Absolutely dead spot on...
Did it get published?

It's interesting that Eisenhower, the driving force behind the Interstate Highway system, was also the one to warn America of the military industrial complex.

The story behind Eisenhower's advocacy of the Interstates is really quite interesting.

As a young officer, Eisenhower was in charge of a convoy that left the east coast headed for California. They had such a difficult time with their journey that Eisenhower always had transportation as a part of military preparedness in the back of his mind.

After VE day, Eisenhower saw the German Autobahns and was greatly impressed with them, given his experience early in his career.

That lead him directly to the idea of implementing Autobahn type highways in America.

She is one of the directors of the Crawford Peace House.

Can DU show Kay some DU love?

I'm really counting on all of you that read this to do something.

Send a letter to the editor, contact your representative, last but not least give Kay a hug.

Send her an e-mail, give her a call.

Just say thank you. Kay and The Crawford Peace House were there long before Cindy ever came to town.
