Rachael Maddow is absolutely brilliant
her discussion re the state of infrastructure with KO was unbelievably good.
I knew the next bridge falling down would be the last straw. Watch the rage spread DUers.

Dems better not join Bush and tear up civil rights. This is the perfect moment for Dems to stand up. If they do, I hope Al Gore and Kucinich tear them to pieces.

Bush is a walking disaster.

2. You beat me to it...
Edited on Fri Aug-03-07 07:33 PM by TWriterD
I was just about to post the same. Intelligent, articulate, genuine, etc. And she's "steamed," as every American should be. A friend sent this to me earlier today:

“Bridges actually received comparatively high marks in the civil engineering report: an acceptable C grade, compared with D notes for the country's aviation system, dams, drinking water, electric power grid and hazardous waste system.”

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070802/pl_nm/bridge_collapse_infrastructure_dc_1

It's a disgrace, but hey! we're number 1!

26. They better, but I'm not really that optimistic.
I hope I'm wrong. At what point will Americans hit the streets? How many more bridge collapses, massive power outages, patients dumped in the streets, etc.? I live in a state ranked 14th (maybe it was 11th...) worst in the country for bridge safety and the local news opened with the start of college football practice. I'd say UFB, but with the state of Corporate Media, it is FB.

It seemed like even Richard Wolffe couldn't contain his contempt for the Maladministration during this evening's segment.

If Minnesota is among the best - what does that say about the worst? And I love that she nailed Republicanism, I am so sick of people pretending that this just cropped up with Bush. This is who they are, they've been preaching against government for decades.

7. last night's was great...as was tonight's. She needs her own show.
she seems good natured without looking stupid and she is able to call them on their really stupid stuff without being snarky. (Sometimes Keith is too cutsie snarky for me).

Instead they pick people like Glenn Beck and Paula Zahn and Joe Scarborough.

Maybe the Internet is our medium but TV and radio is theirs?

28. I have to disagree -- Randi is entertaining and goes off on some great rants,
but she is often rude to her guests, interrupting and cutting them off; and sometimes she is not very well-informed. Rachel Maddow is calm, rational, extremely knowledgeable and well-informed, and she never sounds shrill, like Randi sometimes does.

29. Agreed. Randi has also never explained what makes her think Keith doesn't like her.
Edited on Fri Aug-03-07 08:29 PM by BerryBush
All she does is keep saying Keith doesn't like her, and that she's heard he's "not a nice person," and then never explains what THAT's supposed to mean. It'd be nice if she'd stop slurring him without explaining why he's supposedly so not-nice.

And to add about Randi being rude to callers: she was bugging me today because she was on a kick about how journalism needs to be licensed by the government so that journalists are no longer permitted to tell lies. Of course, this flies in the face of the First Amendment, and is the way totalitarian governments are run, but what the hell. She was telling people who said this that they were "crazy."

I could not believe I was hearing her say that she believes the government should license journalists to ensure they will tell only "the truth." She thinks THIS government could be trusted to determine what "the truth" is???? She thinks they would not punish and de-license people who tell the truth and license only those who parrot their lies?

35. Randi has claimed numerous times that Keith Olbermann steals her
material .. yea, right. I can't listen to a complete program of hers anymore.
Randi is rude, even to callers that agree with her .. she really has a huge inferiority thing going on, and battles it with rudeness.

30. But state funding still matters.
Not as much as fed, but it matters too. Which is why it matters that the governor vetoed a gas tax that would help pay for repairs. It might not have saved this bridge, but could have saved others.

abilities. And a great easy to take laugh - important for having witty sidekicks and a steady stream of laughs on her/their program. She's good on radio and tv. Very disciplined and knows where the road is and how to get down it fast without breaking any laws. She must be brilliant.

39. EVERYONE has bad weather though! We have tornadoes here in Illinois, up North they have blizzards,
the coastlines have hurricanes, the South has floods and droughts, and CA. has fires and earthquakes. FEMA's reaction to disasters does affect them...sooner or later. Katrina should have been the last straw for every single American citizen.

So now that a bridge they drive on could collapse, they all of a sudden care? Sad. Very, very sad.:(
