Coleman enlists Bush's help in hunt for money

Associated Press - August 1, 2007 6:34 PM ET

ST. PAUL (AP) - Republican Senator Norm Coleman's 2008 challengers are hammering him on his ties to President Bush, who is struggling in the polls. And Coleman is about to give them more ammunition.

Bush will be the featured guest at a Coleman fundraiser August 21st in Eden Prairie. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the invitation today and confirmed it with a spokeswoman for the hosts.

Bush has already raised money this year for seemingly safe Republican senators in Alabama, Kentucky and Kansas. He also headlined two fundraisers for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The Minnesota event appears to be the president's first for a Senate incumbent facing a serious challenge next year.

4. There are so many ltte's that could be written from locals on this topic.
Rather than asking Bush to help him raise money for his (personal gain) re-election, shouldn't he be trying to use his influence to get Bush to approve more resources in Minnesota on infrastructure that has been deemed deficient to protect Minnesotans?
