Why are there fewer bridge deaths today
than there were yesterday? They were saying there was 7 confirmed deaths on the t.v. yesterday, now on the news there are 4 deaths.
Anyone have any info on this change?

2. Someone else explained that it was probably the difference
between the first responders' accounts and the official coroner count. The coroner only counts the bodies they actually have. The first responders may be counting bodies they've located but not recovered (like in the water).

3. Yes. Official count is based on remains recovered.
The total is likely to go higher as the days go by.

4. Three of them are the number 2 men in Al Queda in Iraq
who have this ability to come back to life to be killed again tomorrow.

7. I know it's sick
-- the discussion has gotten so debased around these things, not in the original question but in some of the coverage and I just couldn't resist.

8. There was probably a discrepancy between hospitals early on
They do know there are dead in the wreckage and in the confusion the number will rise and fall. Local news reports somewhere between 20 and 30 missing.

10. Because they count people twice etc. as they are bodies in
different hospitals. That is why they need one group doing the work and information coming from that group. They always do that. Maybe we could end the war now and fix the 100,000 bridges that need repairs in this country? I recall living in Saudi Arabia and they never fixed anything that broke. It was so odd. Bridge came down and they just made the road around the spot out of earth and this was all over the place. I wonder if it ever reaches people that one sees Paris and it took about 2000 years to build the city and they fixed things and redid them over and over. Takes money people to do the up keep.

11. You have to give the surge in bridge building time to work. However, one day or one month
does not necessarily mean a trend.

13. seven was an early estimate; four is the current number recovered...
They say that there are a bunch of cars at the bottom of the river pinned under huge, shifting pieces of bridge. It' a dangerous situation, and they're still deciding how to proceed. But yes, they will eventually have to go down there to count/recover the dead.

But who knows? Maybe the people who were in those cars all got out okay.

(Hope...)
