This is my 65th letter to the editor.Every time I write,another person is educated,another fence-sitter comes to our side.My paper is a Republican-supporting paper-this area is a RED area.
I challenge every one of you to write a letter today,send it to your paper,and post it here.There are a lot of people who don't come to DU,don't get the same news we get.It is our obligation to at least try and educate them.Now ---get busy!

This is an open letter to Republican Senators:

While you were playing political games with a non-binding resolution, eight more servicemen were killed-bringing the total of servicemen killed to 3,101. I hold you responsible for their deaths. While you bickered, more servicemen were maimed and wounded, bringing the number of amputees to over 500 — I hold you responsible for their disability. While you refused to go on the record with your opinion — and the opinions of your constituents — more families received that late night phone call or that knock on the door, confirming what a parent fears most. I hold you personally responsible for the grief these families endure — so that you can do more posturing for the camera. While you stalled and wasted my tax dollars, thousands of soldiers and Marines are looking at their third and fourth tour in a war zone, many of them staring down a bottle or the barrel of a gun. I hold you responsible for the trauma they will endure for years to come — trauma you, who have never served, will never know. While you stalled and hemmed and hawed, thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children were killed and wounded. I hold you responsible for the hatred that all Iraqis now have for America. The results of the 2006 elections have given you a mandate, Republicans. Your constituents do not want this insane war. We are tired of seeing our troops abused for your political and financial gain. 2008 will be here soon enough. Do the right thing for once in your political career. It’s what we the people elected you for.

9. Wow! That is a real kick-ass letter, lady!

I've been composing one in my head, which is along similar lines as yours. I was listening to some of the "debate" in the Senate the other day, and I wanted to scream, "Do you know how many people are dying while you play your fucking games? How many wounded? How many more PTSD cases were just created? SHUT UP! Just shut up! This isn't about YOU! I don't give a flying fig if you will be up for election again in '08! NOW is what matters! The men and women being wounded and killed are what matters!"

I sent one to my paper and posted a copy in a separate post earlier.

Have you ever had anyone write to you to your home iwth a reply to one of your letters. I have had it happen twice. Never answered them back because they were kind of strange rebuttals.
