A thought just occurred to me. Next year, the GOP road show rolls into town. Granted, they'll be at the Xcel Center in St. Paul, which is located well enough away from the 35W bridge that went down.

Does anyone think they'll play the whole thing up in the meantime, send in FEMA crews, the whole works, in anticipation of this? I certainly don't see them allowing this to turn into a blunder like Katrina.

Or will they suffer blame for skimping on highway funds for upkeep of our roads and bridges? The following months should be quite interesting.

3. the whole situation is worrisome. But Rep. Jim Oberstar...
...congressman from northern mn., chairs the House Transportation Committee. I don't think he'll put up with much b.s. from the GOP.....but we'll see.

i'm still wondering if they might pull their convo all together..

5. That will be a really tough sell.
A Republican state administration that has refused to allocate additional funds for transportation infrastructure will host the convention. But I wonder if some money will suddenly be discovered to get the bridge rebuilt by next summmer?

6. They're already doing it.
Bush is claiming that it's the fault on the Congressional Democrats. And the dittoheads in the M$M will repeat the meme until it becomes generally accepted as the truth among their knuckledragging base.

It's already happening.
