They've been doing great work in response to the bridge collapse tragedy, despite being stretched thin this summer due to an overload of people made homeless by apartment fires this summer. Send 'em some love, or better year, some $$$, if you can:

Twin Cities Red Cross Responding to Hwy. 35W Bridge Collapse

Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the 35W bridge collapse tragedy.



The Twin Cities Red Cross is responding to the this disaster by providing mass care, mental health counseling and more to those affected.

Family Assistance Center

A family assistance center is located at:

Holiday-Inn Metrodome

1500 Washington Ave.

Minneapolis, MN 55454



The center will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2.



NOTE - Due to call volume, we are currently experiencing difficulties with our phone systems.



So far, the Red Cross has provided more than 2,000 meals and more than 3,000 snacks to families and first responders on scene. Trained Red Cross counselors are continuing to provide comfort to those affected by this disaster.

1. my partner said there's a list somewhere of vehicles recovered
anyone know where? link? have family in that area and haven't been able to get ahold of my brother

2. I'll keep an eye out
for what it's worth, the phone lines are pretty well hosed as of last night - so there are an awful lot of people who are just fine but are difficult to get ahold of. Peace to your brother, you partner, and you.

3. Thanks - and finally got ahold of my brother
he's fine, was out getting things for his art show this weekend

and talk about close calls - my aunt was with a client, meeting ran late and she had to reschedule another appointment - if the meeting didn't run late, she would have been on/near that bridge at that time
