I love you all.
A few months ago, I got rid of my home computer just to free up my mind and appreciate the wonderful community in which I live. I really do live in one of the coolest places in the country (Tiburon, Marin County, California).

I was not totally out of touch as I have a computer at the gallery.

But while basking in the glow of my community and being involved with practically everything that happens here, I began to miss the other community in which I "reside".

DemocraticUnderground..

So I got a new computer and logged back in.

And I am so glad that I did.

As some may know, I lost one of mine (and our) dear friends a few days ago (The Late, Great Tom Snyder).

And last evening I posted this:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=1482737&mesg_id=1482737

Read the replies.

And feel damned fortunate to reside in this community.

And then read this:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/NanceGreggs/252

And know that we are all in an orbit and sharing some company that has never before existed and that is here for us every day.

I love you all.

Tom

13. Even you, Wiley...
Especially you.

You definitely shook me, one time.

And it was a lifestyle wakeup call.

I owe you, big-time.

Tom

You wouldn't believe what I am down to.

3. Well you know my friend
that the love comes right back to you.

I missed you when you were gone. I knew about your laptop having read about it here but I knew you would get another and come back. You are one of us and I am glad. You have not left my thoughts for very long since I learned about your relationship with Tom Snyder. As much as I may disagree with some people here there are so many others that I could not stand losing touch with, you are one of those people. I am glad you are back. I love you right back!

24. It all goes 'round
Sometimes it's Night
Sometimes it's Day
Sometimes you go
And sometimes you stay

But it still goes 'round
And you find your way

Sometimes it hurts
Oh, it hurts so bad
You curse the sky
And you get so mad

But it still goes 'round
And you find your way

That's what I was talking about- how can you not feel connected and loved after reading the beautiful words your friends send you. No, you are not alone and you are loved. We are lucky to have you.

I miss knowing Tom Snyder still lives here. He was great. How perfect that you knew him and were his friend. So, you went walkabout. A time out for just remembering. Very fitting.

8. Hi TomInTib.... So sad to hear about the loss of your friend and
neighbor. I remember Tom's show and was grateful for this man who seemed to be a gentle genius. I don't recall why he left late night t.v., but he was sorely missed by me when he left.

9. Right back atcha! How I adored Tom Snyder!
it was a golden era for Late Night Television--First Johnny, then Dave, then Tom, all in a row, an insomniacs dream, beloved members of the family.

I remember the day Lennon got shot. We all mourned together, with Snyder. Tom's compassion was as self-deprecating and sincere as his raucous laugh.

I don't know how I get through the days without them. No matter what happened on Tom's show, he always seemed like a nice guy.

We still have Dave, at least, for now, though the famous edge is blunted.

And we still have Tom in Tib, who can never be replaced.

blessings

Debra

19. Dude...
Remember when they were saying that GWB was a guy you wanted to have a beer with?

I'd throw a twenty on the bar and sit and talk with you for hours.

We think alike.

I loved Tom and I feel that he woke me up.

See, I love SMART PEOPLE.

Let's hoist a IPA for our boy.

I may even have a smoke.

25. Aw, TomInTib - it's so good to see you.
I live across the Bay, but I used to work over in your parts (Shoreline Drive exit from 101).

I didn't know about your association with Tom Snyder until this post, but he was an absolute favorite of mine. Used to watch "Tomorrow" all the time and particularly enjoyed a show he did with the "Star Trek" supporting cast. I remember George Takei and Walter Koenig (might have been one other), but it was hilarious hearing them recount stories of the show 10 or more years after it had been canceled. Tom was perfect for relaxing with the bedroom 9" TV if you were an insomniac. I was.

We lost Bill Walsh to the same wretched disease within a day. It killed my father a couple of years ago.

Peace be with you, TomInTib. I always enjoy your posts.

I suppose I'll think of something :)

Losing him has made this a dark week for me. I wouldn't be married to my husband without Tom Snyder. It's a long story that I told you via PM a long time ago.

I just want to know one thing - did Tom know how much he was loved?

PM me if you need someone to "listen". You've been on my mind this week, too.
