Russert broke his right ankle Tuesday night while playing with his mutt, Buster the Wonder Dog. Buster and his owner were chasing each other on a stairwell inside the house when the 'Meet the Press' host -- carrying research papers and dry cleaning -- tripped and fell..." Ten weeks later, and he's still in a cast?

He could also need the crutches for partial weight bearing if his doc thinks full weight is too much at this point. The cast at this point? ??

25. My 10yo daughter broke her ankle in Jan 2006. She was in
a cast up to her knee for 6 weeks, and then a walking cast for 4 weeks, so I guess it is possible to be on crutches 10w after a broken ankle. It probably depends on the severity. With my daughter, hers was a Salter III growth plate fracture. Not sure what the implications are of a fractured ankle in an adult.

18. Aha, the old "tripped on the dog" story...
it's kept in Rove's little black book right next to the "choked on a pretzel" and "fell of my bike" stories.

26. It can be surprising what results in a fracture.
Edited on Wed Feb-07-07 02:40 PM by moc
With my daughter, she was playing tag and tripped over a tree root. Everyone thought she just sprained her ankle and many were shocked when it came up broken.

Someone else in her class broke a bone falling out of bed.

I think it's just a function of the injury occuring in a very specific way. With my daughter's ankle fracture, I think her foot may have actually caught in a notch in the tree root as she fell.

For the 2 months she was on crutches, I told her she had to come up with a more exciting story to tell people who asked how she broke it. "Tripped over a tree root" sounded too mundane.

27. No - but she is trying to get the Dem nomination. Her thugs are attacking
everyone she wants eliminated from the competition and even tried to get the impartial head of DNC ousted so they could put one of their loyalists in place.
