This is from a thread about Virginia's budget crisis, which a think tank attributed to tax cuts. :

Virginia Facing $1.2 Billion Deficit Fiscal Think Tank Looks At Upcoming Budget; Blames Tax Cuts
WRVA ^ | Tuesday, July 31, 2007 | 1140wrva.com

The Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis says Virginia is facing a $1.2 billion deficit over the next two-year budget cycle. The current budget, by official estimates, is $200 million short.

Institute Executive Director Michael Cassidy says the tax hike in 2004 did help Virginia's long-term outlook. However, since then, Cassidy says lawmakers have cut various taxes, taking away revenue.

Cassidy is not publicly advocating another tax increase to fix the situation. He claims he is just trying to get the debate started. The size of the deficit could be a big problem for Governor Tim Kaine, who wants to spend money to start a Pre-K program.

The General Assembly will pass the state's next two year budget during the 2008 session.

Cut spending. The problem is the Democrats and the RINOs want to jack up taxes and spend, spend and spend.

Another way of looking at and thinking about budget deficits is to inquire why spending hasn’t been reduced to help balance the budget - instead of raising taxes to balance the budget.

We didn't even have "K" when I started school. Started right out in first grade.

How did I ever survive?

I don’t think anyone in the General Assembly understands the words “budget cuts.” Clearly, it’s not part of their vocabulary.

It’s just a ploy to indoctrinate the children at an even younger age.

Could increased budgets be because of ‘inflation’?

Being Fed Bigger Bread Prices
by The Mogambo Guru

As the inflation in the prices of everything continues to outstrip “income after taxes and deductions”, standards of living are being eroded because people can’t buy as much stuff as they used to; their relatively static stream of discretionary income has lost buying power against rapidly rising prices.(more)

Your problems are all self-inflicted, as you are the same drooling ‘I Love Big Government Creating Perpetual Entitlements’ moron that elected the Congressional morons that have spent us into the Hell Of Crushing Debt (HOCD) and who conveniently looked the other way while the damnable Federal Reserve created the money and credit to make that stupid, bankrupting spending possible! It’s your own fault, you ignorant little commie creep! You committed economic suicide, and in doing so have economically murdered the rest of us, you filthy piece of stupid, greedy, Leftist crap!”

1. these responses are sickening
A good pre-k program teaches little ones how to SOCIALIZE with others. It's EXTREMELY important. But these porkrind swilling yahoos take offense to their children getting any sort of education that is DIFFERENT from theirs. What a selfish mean-spirited swamp of mouthbreathers!

That being said, Georgia very quietly stopped their pre-K program, thanks to that resident inbred Sonny Perdue. And Georgians wonder why they are rated 49th out of 50 states.

2. Therein lies the problem. If a program teaches little ones how to SOCIALIZE,
over in Freeperville that gets understood as something that's just too darn close to "socialism" for comfort.

"See, didn't I tell ya, earl...they're tryin' to make the little ones into socialists, trying to get them to socialize and all. Gotta stop that before it spreads! Pull the kids out of those left-wing school programs before they all get indtrunated...uh...inducktr....uh, hell... brainwashed!"

3. yup -- it's too far over their heads to think that teaching kids early
to GET ALONG (socializing) might actually AID them in their studies down the road.

So now the teachers in the early grades have to waste everyone else's time teaching the mouthbreathing chucklehead's kid how to sit still in a chair or share crayons.

"Yep -- those durned socialist's are f*cking up the country Earline! We's gots to stop em!"

5. Damn those schools for wanting to indoctrinate kids with the "ABCs"
I can see why freepers feel that education is a waste of time. It certainly didn't help them any.

Yep, all down to the greedy leftists borrowing all the money and spending it.

These idiots are dumber than a rockslide.
