Impeachment supersedes all other business in the house.
From the http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=109_cong_house_rules_manual&docid=hruletx-57.pdf">Jefferson Manual:

A direct proposition to impeach is a question of high privilege in the House and at once supersedes business otherwise in order under the rules governing the order of business.

I thought people may wish to know why Conyers indicates that we may not get much else done when we venture down this road? Impeachment, according to the constitution, would take precedence over ending the war - for example. That does not mean we can't focus on other issues, but it does mean that we would have an obligation to put impeachment first.

1. Hey, ya gotta have priorities, ya know...
and dragging Shrub and his buddies out in chains is so much more important than that kid's health care bill, redoing NCLB, rewriting the tax code, actually trying to get out of Iraq, and what else?

Oh, yeah, having those hearings and investigations to actually build a solid case aganist the bastids.

2. Not to mention cockfighting, steroids in baseball, and corrupt basketball referees.
We're not getting anything else done with the openly-obstructionist Republickers and the suddenly veto-mad Chimpenfuhrer anyway.

4. Makes sense to me ...
when your house, hair, city, etc. is on fire, extinguishing the fire would be priority number 1.
