I get news from KNBC on Directv...just announced that a 3.2 mag earthquake rattled the valley a few seconds ago.

Anyone on DU in the area?

2. Well, the newsie said that...
they'd received many calls asking about it, so I was wondering if DUers in the area felt it.

3. Hi, Maddy!
I'm several miles south of there, say 15 or 20...

Down near LAX...

Didn't feel anything...

That's the sort of quake that you most likely won't feel unless you're right over it...

Thanks for the heads-up!

Talk about getting the news fast!

9. I'm in Mississippi...
I can take tornadoes and hurricanes, but the thought of earthquakes makes me queasy!

6. I felt it in NoHo - - just a single, small jerk then nothing
Edited on Tue Jul-31-07 01:22 AM by AlGore-08.com
It took the cat by surprise so I knew it was less than 4.0... during Northridge the two cats I had then would stress out before any shock that was 4.0 or more, and just sort of look around in mild surprise when anything between 3.0 and 3.9 started, and ignore anything below that.

She's eating now, rather than freaking out, so I'm hopeful this was just a small one...

13. That's no more than a sonic boom. Not much to worry about unless it's
a pre-quake to a big one. Small sesmic quakes are good so they tell me because they reduce the pressure on the fault lines making a bigger one less likely.

Thank you for the post Maddy*

I did hear however about the 'government' (homeland security) doing an experimental explotion of DEPLETED URANIUM off the coast in Northern California (Sacramento?).

There was a news clip. Let me see if I can find it.
