Isn't Every Death in the "War On Terror" Questionable?
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 09:44 PM by mb7588a
After reading the Pat Tillman threads, this question came to me:

"Isn't every death in the "War On Terror" questionable?"

Hell, even the deaths on 9/11/01, the inspiration for the U.S. "War On Terror," deserve to be questioned. How could it happen? How did it happen? Will we ever know what really happened?

This is not to say Iraq is even a PART of the "War On Terror." It was not a country where Al-Qa eda or any other significant terrorist organization (Hezbollah and all the rest) was operating before March of 2003. U.S. military involvement there has achieved one good thing for humanity - Saddam on a rope.

Afghanistan, for that matter, is not even where the world's worst terrorists are currently operating.

What good has nearly 4,000 U.S. service member deaths achieved in the War On Terror? Vanity? Far from it! Quite the opposite in fact. We've proved we can't protect our service members or care for them after we use them as fodder "over there, instead of here." We've proved we can't hold the moral high ground in the global debate on detention and interrogation practices - we take Dick Cheney's route to victory. DICK CHENEY!

What good has trillions of taxpayer dollars gotten us? An effective plan to respond to a massive tragedy or disaster? Ask the citizens of the 9th Ward of New Orleans. Has it gotten us allies and successful protections from terror? Not likely. We've been lucky enough to not find out. Though it has gotten a few pizza deliverymen and a guy with flaming footwear arrested, a couple God-loving Muslims removed from airplanes - God bless 'em for not embarrassing us.

Have we spread freedom to liberty-deprived folks in need a of light bulb turned on in their philosophical enlightenment process? Maybe, but it ain't our freedom they should be wanting. We sure haven't been setting a good example since, oh, about December of 2000. Thank you, SCOUTS. It all goes back to that election.

If the "War On Terror" were such a serious operation, these questions, and every other would be easily answered. Maybe even mine could be answered.

Terror should not frighten a populace. It should embolden it to stick its head above the madness - educate itself, reject fear, submit to reason, and enjoy a relatively angst-free existence. What could render terror more futile than a populace not willing to even dignify it with a significant response? Terror has been effective for a reason.

The failure of this "War On Terror" is unconscionable for history's foremost political, cultural, and economic hegemony to undertake. The deaths in the "War On Terror" from day (9/1)1 are questionable in my mind.

Thus, this American surrenders George Bush's and every fear mongering asshole who took advantage of the blessed Americans who died on September 11th's "War On Terror."

Excuse my exasperation.

3. Yes, deaths with dishonest reasons and answers should
be questioned.
