Impeachment Is Only PART of the Solution

In my estimation, the investigation of the malfeasances of the Bush administration, stretched out over the next 14 months, will do more to destroy the Republican Party than the actual impeachment proceeding.

I think the Democrats in Congress have it right: a slow and painstaking effort, peeling away layer after layer of the onion, disclosing bit by bit the egregious behavior of Bushco, building to a crescendo up to the general election in 2008.

Perhaps I overestimate the American people, but a sustained unfurling of the wrongdoings will have the cumulative effect of discrediting Bushco, and by extension, the GOP.

Of course, all bets are off if another 9/11-type disaster is permitted by the administration, and martial law is instituted, muting the effect of the ongoing hearings and installing a garrison state in Washington.

But how I love to watch Bush & Cheney & Gonzalez rotating on the spit, as Leahy, Waxman, Conyers, et al., turn up the flame.

While we watch them rotate, they continue to harm this country.

as long as they aren't being impeached. and the press they control which is nearly all of it doesn't have to say a thing about their crimes being exposed.
