8. Knowing Fred Barnes, it was probably that W. raised less than a million bucks that day.
They don't get any worse than Fred Barnes. Even Sean Hannity is less of a Bush toady, and there is nothing more to say beyond that.

11. They did? You mean, that was the last time Fox News slipped up
and actually reported ethically-constructed news?

Well, I'm glad they remember - I'm sure they haven't made that mistake again.

15. Was is the 7th-month anniversary of BushCo finding out...
... that Osama Bin Laden (where is he, anyway) and Al-Qaeda blew up the USS Cole? You know, when 17 sailors were killed on and 38 wounded on October 12, 2000?

Oh, wait... silly me. Vice-President Cheney was briefed that is was definately Al-Qaeda on Febuary 9th, 2001, not Febuary 11th, 2001.

Oh, and who can forget this?

According to Dr. Rice, the decision not to respond militarily to the Cole bombing was President Bush's. She said he "made clear to us that he did not want to respond to al Qaeda one attack at a time. He told me he was 'tired of swatting flies.'" The administration instead began work on a new strategy to eliminate al-Qaeda.

Both the Clinton Administration and the Bush Administration have been criticized for failing to respond militarily to the attack on the USS Cole before September 11, 2001. The 9-11 Commission Report cites one source who said in February 2001, " complained frequently that the United States had not yet attacked ... Bin Ladin wanted the United States to attack, and if it did not he would launch something bigger."

On February 3, 2006, 23 suspected or convicted Al-Qaeda members escaped from jail in Yemen. This number included 13 who were convicted of the USS Cole bombings and the bombing of the French tanker Limburg in 2002. Among those who reportedly escaped was Al-Badawi. Al-Qaeda's Yemeni number two Abu Assem al-Ahdal may also be among those now on the loose.

Oh, Fred means 2001, not 1857.

ETA: If Bush had only remembered what happened on October 12, 2000, maybe September 11, 2001 would have had nothing to mar its beautiful blue sky.

So if something noteworthy happened on Sept 11 Mr Barnes, I was probably too broken up to notice. :sarcasm:

23. Something bad? It was the greatest day of Bush's political life
Edited on Sun Jul-29-07 09:19 PM by aint_no_life_nowhere
It led to the highest ratings of his Presidency. Virtually every head of State in the world called him to offer their support. It was a time when Bush could appear in public and be cheered for grunting into a megaphone and doing a primitive dance on a pile of rubble. It's a day he's kept alive in speech after speech and throughout his 2004 campaign and exploited to the max. It was the high tide in his Presidency and I'm sure he looks back on those wonderful days of his fleeting popularity with great nostalgia.

Something bad for you and me. But for Fred Barnes and his fellow neocons, a windfall that he continues to exploit to this day.

24. Might I remind him...
... that it happened on the watch of Bush's presidency, and that numerous folks failed to do their jobs but absolutely none were held accountable.

Yes, I remember 9/11/ quite well and I remember who was responsible, who ignored memos, who took vacations, and who left the country vulnerable.

I remember the whole thing.
