An interesting comment by Gingrich: things that make you go "Hmmmmm"
The former speaker also sounded a warning note about the state of the country and the state of today’s political process.

He accused both parties of failing to respond to the challenges facing the country, which he compared to pre-Civil War America.

“The Republicans don’t recognize the scale of the performance failure of government as a system, and the Democrats are living in a fantasy land in terms of their policy approach.

“So you have two parties, each of them disqualifying themselves in different ways,” said Gingrich, a sometime historian who has written books about the Civil War period.

1. POLITICO.COM. The rightwingnut 'blog' trying to be evenhanded.
No indy run for Newt--he wants to swoop in and be the great, blowjobbing rescuer of the GOP. He still thinks he has cachet...!! What a fucking ditz!!!

2. I think he's just stroking his own ego. I think he's waiting for a group to take him up on their
shoulders and start chanting NEWT,NEWT,NEWT. It just ain't gonna happen. I would think he's smart enough to realize that there's enough dirt out there to really make his life miserable, but he has an ego like no others, so who knows.

9. Stroking his own ego is what Newt does best...
I love to watch him burn all his bridges though.

10. Newt wouldn't win, no matter what party he decided to run for.
He's a bit of a nutjob - by which I mean, he's almost entirely a nutjob. He does have moments every now and then that maybe momentarily fool you into thinking he might be somebody OTHER than Newt Gingrich, but those moments pass very quickly.

Besides, at this time in our country, there are no viable third parties - it is, essentially, a two-party system. What remains to be seen is if that can ever change. Someday, perhaps, but not today.

It reminds me of the Simpsons Halloween episode from back in 1996, where the Kang and Konos take the places of Bill Clinton and Bob Dole and are revealed to the public...

Kang: You have to vote for ONE of us! It's a two party system!

Guy in crowd: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third party candidate!

Konos: Go ahead. Throw your vote away! (evil laughter)

(Ross Perot punches a hold in his "Perot '96" hat)

You know how it goes.
