Another Lie! Pat Tillman did not call his comrade "sniveling" before he died.
And the lies keep on a comin......

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- As bullets flew above their heads, the young soldier at Pat Tillman's side started praying.

"I thought I was praying to myself, but I guess he heard me," Sgt. Bryan O'Neal recalled in an interview Saturday with The Associated Press. "He said something like, 'Hey, O'Neal, why are you praying? God can't help us now."'

Tillman's intent, O'Neal said, was to "more or less put my mind straight about what was going on at the moment."

<snip>
A chaplain who debriefed the entire unit days after Tillman's death later described this exchange to investigators conducting a criminal probe of the incident. But O'Neal strongly disputes portions of the chaplain's testimony, outlined in some 2,300 pages of transcripts released to the AP this week by the Defense Department in response to a Freedom of Information Act request.

The chaplain told investigators that O'Neal said Tillman was harsh in his last moments, snapping, 'Would you shut your mouth? God's not going to help you; you need to do something for yourself, you sniveling ..."

"He never would have called me 'sniveling,"' O'Neal said. "I don't remember ever speaking to this chaplain, and I find this characterization of Pat really upsetting. He never once degraded me. He's the only person I ever worked for who didn't degrade anyone. He wasn't that sort of person."

1. I'm shocked that they would put devisive words attributed to Tillman for their own benefit.
:sarcasm:

SHAMEFUL!

4. And note, it was the chaplain who did the lying.
Didn't the right-wingers make an effort to fill the chaplain spots with fundie types? Which also suggests they were good ole boys?

5. It totally unacceptable when a Prez Admin lies...
...to promote a failed policy. But when a supposed "man of God" gets into the act to back them!?!?!?! WFT!?!?!?!

12. His name was blacked out--we need to find out just who he was, I think.
He needs to be challenged on his statement.

10. BINGO!!!!!!! And not to be mean, but if anyone had motive to whack Tillman, it would be
someone he called a "snivelling expletive." And of course, one would WANT to remove any question of motive in the course of an investigation.....

????

There's a whole lotta bullshit out there. Now we've got lying chaplains in the mix????

Will we ever know the truth?

7. They've started demoting the hero
A little slander here, a little slander there. By the time they're done, he'll probably be a wife beating, child molesting, coward and al Qaeda agent.

8. We're not going to learn the truth of the matter without a proper
investigation. But I believe nothing anymore. This country is too far down the drain.

9. The story of the shooter with 'hazy vision' from laser surgery stinks like 3-day-old fish too
That story got foisted upon the public when the news that Pat Tillman was killed by 'friendly fire' was first breaking.

I'm glad that BushCo's lies are getting revealed in Sports Illustrated where they'll be seen by millions who pay more attention to sports stories than politics or world events.

13. This makes things even MORE interesting, all right.
If he said things like that, it's easier to believe he was killed simply because somebody didn't like him. If he didn't, then what becomes the motive? Couldn't be that he was more useful to anyone dead than alive, could it, because of his pesky sentiments about the Iraq war? Hmm...

Oh, the plot just gets thicker and thicker.

15. This story just gets weirder the deeper it's investigated. They need to name
the chaplain, someone needs to confirm his identity and version of events--otherwise, it looks like they're using his "Godly" position to discredit O'Neal--a chaplain wouldn't lie, now would he?

17. Ah, the plot thickens
As we find that some Christians think it's just fine to lie about an atheist to cover up for the bad actions of other christians.

18. Lying chaplains? In the name of their god W?
We need to get W's speech drafts and correspondence to and from W regarding Tillman's death. How they can possibly think anyone will believe there is any valid reason for executive privilege... well then of course they don't, they just have to claim it to cover their ass. But for what reason exactly?
