Felony Charges Filed in Voter Registration Case = ACORN SEVEN in Seattle.
Felony Charges Filed in Voter Registration Case
News Release: July 26, 2007

The King County Prosecutor's Office today filed criminal charges against seven people who are accused of submitting 1,762 fraudulent registrations to King County's Department of Records and Elections in 2006. Investigators have determined, however, that no votes were cast from the fraudulent voter registrations and that there was no intent by the defendants to permit illegal voting.

A national voter-registration organization known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) delivered 1,805 alleged new voter registrations in October 2006. An investigation was initiated in 2006 after King County's Records and Elections had concerns that some of the registrations were fraudulent.

Court documents indicate that the defendants were paid eight dollars per hour by ACORN to collect registrations, but the defendants would instead submit false registrations and ultimately get paid for work they did not perform.......

3. Do the crime, do the time, etc. I have no sympathy for these morans, if guilty.
They are still not proven guilty, of course. However, now they are just tools of the right, and will be used over and over to press the issue that voter fraud exists.

IF GUILTY:
What they did was a crime. They could have spent time actually working and registering voters. Instead, they cheated and hustled an 8 hour day in maybe half an hour. They deserve to be branded as what they are. Every future employer should know who they are.

6. Bush cannot give pardons or commute their sentences
As they are accused of state crimes rather than federal crimes.

4. You can stream the Voter Caging NOW program here:
http://www.pbs.org/now/shows/330/index.html

About the Show ...
Was there a White House plot to illegally suppress votes in 2004? Is there a similar plan for the upcoming elections? This week NOW examines documents and evidence that points to a Republican Party plan designed to keep Democrats from voting, allegedly by targeting people based on their race and ethnicity with key battleground states like Ohio and Florida of particular interest. "It was a partisan, discriminatory attempt to challenge voters of color," Eddie Hailes, a senior attorney for The Advancement Project, a civil rights group, told NOW.

Was the White House involved? David Iglesias, one of the fired U.S. Attorneys, thinks so: "It's reprehensible. It's unethical, it's unlawful. It may very well be criminal." Iglesias told NOW he was repeatedly urged by his superiors at the Justice Department to investigate allegations of false voter registrations. After his investigations came up short, Iglesias said Republican officials got angry and complained to White House aide Karl Rove. Soon after Iglesias lost his job. As a result of allegations by Iglesias and others, Congress is investigating whether the White House acted unlawfully.

Search your PBS Television for air times. Expect 8 to 10 pm tonight and re-airing tomorrow afternoon.

7. Registration Fraud is not Voter Fraud
Don't let them turn this into ballot stuffing (that's a practice of the Republicans).

8. Indeed, this is an honest services crime. They cheated the employer
This is nothing compared to the Republican operation that destroyed the registrations of Dems and submitted the Rs. In that scenario, Dems were prevented from voting.
