Attention, XM AAR listeners: Ed Schultz coming to ch. 167...
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 10:51 PM by CaseyBuck
On Ed's site, this is at the top of the page:

(2/7/2007)THE ED SCHULTZ SHOW WILL BE HEARD ON XM SATELLITE CHANNEL 167 FROM NOON TO 3PM, STARTING FEB. 19TH

So this'll mean that Thom Hartmann won't be heard on XM when he takes over Al Franken's Air America slot.

2. Probably part of his deal with AAR? That's toooooo bad!
I don't have XM, so I'm very HAPPY to get Thom Hartman on my computer now. I hope he speaks to his audience about this change.

I haven't heard him, but I know some people who really like Ed Schultz.

3. How do we know it means Hartmann's show won't be on?
They could easily move Hartmann's show into Randi Rhodes spot and dump her.

Do we know for certain what the line-up will be?

6. Hartman is getting Franken's spot on AAR.
So Franken can concentrate on running for the senate.

11. Yes. I know. My question is about AAR and XM shaking up their line-up
on their schedule.

14. 167 is the AAR channel on XM.
I guess I will hear Hartmann there once on week-ends and then stream Hartmann the rest of the time.

I guess AAR is totally syndicating? They are taking on Big Eddie Blowhard?

15. Ed's not joining Air America...
Just the XM channel that carries Air America's programming. With this move, I'm guessing the channel will now be called "Progressive Talk", instead of "Air America".

18. Well, then as I said, I will have to stream Hartmann. No Big Eddie.
When they stole AAR from Sirius, they gave them a dedicated chanmel. So if that is still true, then Ed is now part of AAR.

19. Well, I think that Channel 167 might have Hartmann and Big Eddy.
Because I'm wondering if they aren't able to shift Hartmann out of that time slot and his show is earlier in the day, or maybe later in the day.

167 might not be exclusively AAR anymore.

The week-end line-up is at AAR site. I have it in print here but the XM site is terrible to find anything on.

He goes after whomever they tell him to go after, and if he doesn't hear from people about it....he continues.

16. I think he's a good advocate who reaches people who "Liberals" don't always
reach. He's forceful, but I like that about him. I can't speak to his research, but he seems to be pretty well versed on the issues? I don't like EVERYTHING he says and does. Like the stuff he said about Dean, for example.

20. yeh, mzmolly...like saying Dean had his head up his ass?
And other such niceties? And his researchers refusing to correct lies he told on air about him?

He has hurt Democrats very much. He plays to many people who take every word he says as gospel. He has a responsibility.

Pretty soon, I can just cancel XM as well. We spent all that money on Sirius, then AAR changed.

No, I don't listen to people who lie and don't correct it.

I did hear when he had Dean on and heard him out on things though. And, I though it was bold of Dean to go on the show an tell him what's what.

27. That was say at least 2-3 years ago.
He didn't understand Dean then. He has been enlightened by several of his staffers who were active with the Dean Camp during the Primaries. I think it is Vern Thompson who does the Production who helped.

30. And James Holm.....but they did not listen either.
It is when he was traveling and starting to rebuild the party after he became chairman. Ed went on and on about how badly he was doing, then the head up the ass stuff.

We sent him Dean's activities, sent his goals. But the harm had been done. People who heard him believed him, sadly.

I have emails from the folks there...that he never apologizes and that we just misunderstood.

He did similar stuff as well later on...maybe not the same words. He puts target on a Democrat and lets fly. Not just Dean, not by a long shot.

Ed lapses into right wing talking points too often.

10. Well, there goes my motivation for keeping XM.
Right now, I have both.

Lately, I've been listening to the Stacey Taylor show in San Diego on KLSD 1360 progressive talk (Air America affiliate) from 6 to 9 A.M. out here in SoCal, and then Thom on Sirius from 9 to 10 A.M. I enjoy listening to Malloy beginning at 6 PM out here.

I was hanging on to my XM account, in hopes of hearing all three hours of Hartman from 9 to 12; however, if that's not the case ... XM is going.

12. That has been the AAR channel on XM. We don't listen to Ed in our home.
I will just stream Hartmann if he's not going to be on XM.

So XM is no longer devoting a channel to AAR as they said when they got AAR to leave Sirius?

Hubby and I refuse to listen to Ed Schultz. Even when he has Dean on now, we just won't listen.

That's too bad.

Why are we hearing from AAR about the damn schedule? I just checked at XM and can't find anything.

24. Well, here is what at Thom Hartmann's site....I will have to stream it.
We have no liberal radio anywhere around us, haven't had for years.

"Starting Monday, February 19th, Thom replaces Al Franken on the Air America Radio Network. Listen for him live,noon-3 PM ET (9-noon PT), on your local Air America affiliate! "

So I guess he won't be on XM?????

Damn.

Is Sam Seder staying? Does he have a website of his own?

We were looking forward to listening to Hartmann on the radio and not having to stream it. You can hear it better whereever we are in the house.

Just sick about it. I can't believe XM and AAR did that.

28. I'd rather have Thom.
Does this have something to do with Hartman being on Serius? That he can't be on both due to contractual reasons?

Plus Schultz's show is live the same time Randi is. If he goes in Thom's slot (which starts 3 hours earlier), does that mean the show that airs on XM will be from the previous day?

31. XM'er here Sirius-ly contemplating a change
Does anyone have both services? How do they rate, liberal talk as well as in their music?
When I heard that Malloy had moved to Sirius I almost made the leap, but the gutting of AAR may finally push me over the edge to Sirius.

36. Since you asked, I have both
I have Sirius as a comsumer and multiple XM commercial radios for my business (the Sirius deal for business is horrible).

Sirius has only one liberal talk station (as opposed to a conservative station as well as Faux Talk, just like XM). They have ex-Crossfire guy Bill Press in morning drive. He's just okay, recently started using his co-workers more which helps. I'd still give the edge to The Young Turks, formerly on Sirius. Late morning, Sirius has this exclusive assclown named Alex Bennett. Assclown critisized Cindy Sheehan because she wasn't doing his show and he always doing movie and DVD reviews (maybe the studios give him freebies). Sam Seder easily beats him. At lunch, Sirius aires only one hour of Thom Hartmann, delaying the rest to the graveyard shift. From 1pm to 3pm EST, Sirius has Lynn Samuels. Her voice is nails on a blackboard. I'd rather hear Rita Cosby do The Best of Andrea Bocelli. And Samuels starts her show singing! Good for causing dogs to yelp in pain. After that, they air a tape delay of Ed Schultz's entire show, following by a tape delayed entire broadcast of Stephanie Miller. Why they don't air them live is beyond me. Then, Mike Malloy live.

As for their music, I have to say Sirius is superior. I know some people like the alledgedly expanded playlists on XM (which is probably true) and that they claim sound quality is superior on XM, which I don't agree with (I think Sirius is better, but really they both suck compared to an average CD). The thing that drives my nuts over XM is the sequence of songs make no sense. It seems that no one, like a DJ, is programming and they just let a computer pick songs at random. I recently heard a really great song by Joe Walsh followed by a crappy song by Ratt, the band Milton Berle made famous. This past week, I heard a hard rock song followed by a love song by April Wine. XM is devoid of people that can actually program a radio station and the results are jarring. Yes, the Sirius DJ's will talk and sometimes push Sirius stuff, but I like having a DJ who knows his stuff, otherwise I could just listen to an Ipod.

It should be noted that Ed Schultz is already airing on XM 152 according to their website. Perhaps Schultz has a favored nations contract clause giving him the primo slot and Hartmann will be available on XM 152. Maybe. (Rosco?)

He is currently on Sirius Left (although they really do chop his show up for the grating Lynn Samuels).

I seldom get to hear Sam Seder much at his earlier time, and really we only hear Randi and Rachel.

Might switch to Sirius...still have the boombox and antenna.

Hartmann is on 12-1PM ET, and during the overnight hours. He gets two hours of his daytime show chewed up by Samuels.

Malloy is live on Sirius Left from 9-midnight.

35. Well, now I remember.
Samuels is not one I can listen to...

Malloy I can stream as I do Hartmann. I like some of the oldie music on XM, but not sure it is worth the monthly payments. I now remember the Sirius line-up...the ones I like are at hours I can't listen, and Samuels takes over midday.
