It seems like the Republicans think it's all a joke
I was just watching a replay of the contempt hearing.

They really seemed to think it mattered for nothing.

Having massive meaningless amendments read into the record.

Making stupid arguments that made absolutely no sense.

I glimpsed the essence of arrogance in the face.

These people sincerely believe they are above the law.

I say put some of these people before the law. Chris Cannon, from California, should come first.

These bastards seem quite confident. That says a lot to me. About what is to come.

1. Maybe they already know that the Congress is powerless now
They gave all the power to the president without even realizing what they were doing. Or did they?
They may know that the regime plans on seizing total control and dissolving Congress soon.

2. listened to the meeting on C-Span3 yesterday
republics gave a list of Clinton did this, Clinton did that

ok - try this on for size - by pointing out everything that Clinton did as a basis to validate bush doing the same thing

this means the next president (hopefully a dem) is free to do things in the same manner as bush

throwing the CAPE of EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE over anyone he/she wants, blocking investigations by the justice department, placing themselves above the law...etc

4. They know our leaders better than we do.
They know their side is going to play hardball while our side still thinks that there is a bipartisan game of croquet going on. No wait, that's not it, our brilliant and wiley stratageristas are deftly maneuvering for the kill. Yeah, that's the ticket!

6. The Dictator will just pardon anyone charged with contempt.
He won't even wait for a trial or anything like that, he will just pardon them and it will be over. The reason it will be over is that the Democrats in congress will not impeach the Dictator, and congress has no other recourse. The Bush-Republicans in congress will remain in lock-step with their master and the Dictator's rule will be confirmed. Once he has successfully quashed a congressional subpoena the game will be up. This is reminiscent of when Caesar assumed control of the Roman Republic. He did not "say" the Republic was dead, but everyone knew it. A large number of Roman senators then hatched the assassination plot, but it was already too late.

If the Dictator accomplishes this small task, of quashing a subpoena and defying a contempt charge, then the aspens have truly turned...

7. China executed the head of their FDA to "send a message"
Now I'm against the death penalty, but with my frustration over recent events, part of me wishes that congress could take one of these lying S.O.B's and "send a signal" to the others.

I don't know why I typed "California." I had been staring at "Chris Cannon (R) Utah" for the better part of two hours. Sorry. :)
