Since the GOP is too scared to debate Iraq issues, they voted against cloture on a motion to allow debate on the matter. One can hardly blame them for hesitating to argue their ridiculously indefensible position of supporting Bush. To allow them to save face, a motion should be introduced to open debate on the non-binding resolution, but individual Republicans Senators may be excused from the debate if they can provide a signed note from their mother giving permission. Perhaps if given such an out, they would quit their childish obstructionist behavior and allow the Senate to conduct its business in a timely fashion.

1. Ah, all you need is to slip 'em some Benjamins
All that really motivates that party is money. Offer them enough and they'll vote for binding resolutions against their own mothers.

3. While they are easy, they are not cheap!
It would require at least a Salmon P. Chase, perhaps even a Wilson!

I'll hug their elephant if they'll kiss my ass!

In the spirit of bipartisanship, naturally. :P

6. you are missing the point
Its not about debate. Any Senator can discuss this all he wants in Morning business sessions.

This is about the vote of telling everyone where you stand.

The vote would be 98 - 2(McCain,Lieberman) against supporting the surge, which means most Republican Senators do not agree with Bush.
