the younger kid got that'fun' done to him four times a day in the first and succeeding days until he was rescued. The remaining number were the 'fun' perpetrated on the older child since he was kidnapped in 2002.

The Loofah Gourd is a member of the Cucurbitaceae ( Gourd ) family. The Loofah is spelled several different ways, i.e., Loofah, Luffa or Lufa. It's commonly known as the Washrag Gourd. It is the only plant known that can be raised and used as a sponge. The sponges are very versatile in that they can be used for bathing, washing dishes or scrubbing. The Loofah is widely used for bathing to invigorate the skin as well as gift giving and crafts. A distant cousin of the cucumber, Loofah's have been cultivated for bath time luxury for hundreds of years. Our Loofah's are grown in Guatemala specifically for The Chemistry Store. They are of the softer variety and are not as scratchy as normal Loofah sponges. Add them to your melt & pour soap project or simply include them in your gift baskets.

Our shipment has arrived! The Loofah's this year are larger than the previous years product. They can be cut to whatever size you need. All the sponges have a 2-3 inch plus diameter. You won't find loofah's anywhere at this price. The sponges are packed flat and will expand to normal round shape after they have be wet.

13. Here's an article about this. The group knows about his comments.
I was googling trying to find the contact info for this group to lodge a complaint about O'Reilly and his comments and found this article. They know what he said and still are having him as a speaker. I'm going to let them know what I think anyway but I'm disappointed that an organization like this wouldn't at least chide O'Reilly for his comments.

O’Reilly’s comment not a factor for fundraiser

Officials at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children believe that anyone who goes to a March 9 fundraiser in Collier County will walk away with an understanding of the magnitude of the problem of missing children in the United States.

That includes the center’s keynote speaker, Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly.

Joann Donnellan, spokeswoman for the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, said O’Reilly would still be the speaker at the Collier County branch’s annual gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, despite comments he made on his program about Shawn Hornbeck.
<...>

Donnellan said Wednesday that O’Reilly’s invitation was accepted in November to help raise awareness on the issue of missing and exploited children. She said the invitation to speak to the group still stood.

“We thought he would be an interesting speaker,” she said.

Donnellan said the organization, as well as the public and O’Reilly, do not know all of the details surrounding Shawn’s abduction.

22. Here's the e-mail I sent them.
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children -

I have looked over your website and it looks like your organization is performing a wonderful service in the fight to protect our precious children from the sexual predators and child abusers among us.

But why on God's green earth would you hire Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly, of all people, to give a speech at your fundraiser next month? Do you know anything at all about this man? He is a sexual predator himself, having recently settled a multi-million dollar sexual harrassment case out of court. He is currently embroiled in a scandal deriving from his callous, insensitive remarks about how kidnapping victim Shawn Hornbeck "enjoyed" being held captive by a child molester.

If you scoured the country, holding auditions in the manner of "American Idol", you could not have found a more wildly inappropriate spokesman for your fine organization. How many decent, upstanding citizens did you pass over before settling on this perverted bloviator? And why? O'Reilly is a fool.

You organization is becoming a national laughingstock for refusing to censure this awful man and insisting on having a sex pervert represent you to the nation. Wait till Jon Stewart starts in on you!

You can nip this in the bud and salvage your organization's slipping reputation by repudiating this awful individual and getting someone who is a genuine representative of children and their safety to speak at your fundraiser. But hurry! You have egg all over your face at this point. Don't let your name become Mudd!

15. Says more about the organization giving him the award
than it does about ORielly. Clearly they think they can get mileage (raise money) from the event - which means they cater to a crowd (donors) who would be Orielly supporters.

16. Just for the record...I didn't see or hear anything about him "getting an award."
Where did that part of the story come from?

It's awful enough that they asked him to speak! But I don't see anything about him getting an award, nor did Keith ever say he was getting an award.

Let's stick to the facts.

17. Agreed - but even the 'featured speaker'
thing doesn't do well for an organization if the speaker is terribly controversial - esp if they are controverial on the issue that is front and center for the organization. Granted I bet the invite was made long before Orielly stuck his foot in his mouth about the kidnapee in St. Louis.

18. No, it doesn't.
I'm just saying, the "they're giving him an award" detail is a "telephone game" detail and is not true. The truth is bad enough on its own without requiring mistaken embellishment.
