O’Reilly And Beck Agree: We’re ‘Afraid’ To Have ‘A Lot Of African-American Friends’
you two morans aren't afraid as "I" am of BEING your friend!!! :grr:

Last night on Fox News, Bill O’Reilly led a discussion about Sen. Joe Biden’s (D-DE) racially-insensitive remarks toward Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). But instead of exlusively focusing on why the remarks were condescending to African-Americans, he said blacks should “feel sorry for us white folks here, because I’m telling you now I’m afraid to say anything. … White Americans are terrified.”

My Two Sense points out that CNN’s Glenn Beck hosted a similar discussion last night, during which he said, “I don’t have a lot of African-American friends, and I think part of it is because I’m afraid that I would be in an open conversation, and I would say something that somebody would take wrong, and then it would be a nightmare.”

1. Now That Is Most Definitely A Bunch Of Broad Brush Racial Crap.
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 08:01 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
But based on who it's coming from, I'm not surprised in the least.

This should DEFINITELY make for a good Olbermann 'Worst Person In The World' segment.

12. Oddly enough I live in a gated community.. AND..
we have a much higher concentration of african americans living in our development, than in the surrounding town. The stereotype of gated communities is pretty rampant.

5. Wow.
How do you even respond to that? 2007, and white guys are still blaming their racist attitudes on African Americans. "I'd have black friends, but they is soo irrational and touchy that I'm afraid that me and my intelligence and my honesty would offend them. They ain't as smart as we is, you know."

The worst part is they are in television, getting paid for being shallow, stupid, scared, and simple.

6. I cannot believe what comes out of the mouths of these fools . . . every day
Here's a suggestion for these two moral cowards: don't worry about what you are going to say. Maybe just listen respectfully for a while. Does that scare you? Can't imagine going five minutes without the condescending asshole persona?

Don't know how to behave in polite company? Can't talk to another human being for any length of time without saying something judgmental and closed-minded? How pathetic.

they would have no problem making friends with African American people if they would just shut up and listen for a change. I mean LISTEN.

But that's like asking a duck to stop quacking (no offense to ducks).

I want to take back the media too, but I will defend to the death the right of Beck et al to spew their stupidity, because our First Amendment guarantees their right to be sanctimonious jerks. Every time they open their mouths they prove how intellectually and morally bankrupt they are.

The media monopolies ensure that these neanderthals have a microphone, and that is wrong, but what you are hearing are the last throes of the neocon ideology in America. They are desperate, they are melting down, and it ain't pretty.

Better late than never. Their days are numbered, and with every vile breath they take, they accelerate the process.

31. by failing to resist?
I think you are using a very broad brush, and some very inexact language. I condone nothing these pigs do. Many of us are resisting, but our voices aren't heard at billion dollar decibels. We do what we can. We are creating alternatives. Despite the corporate media's unflagging support of the hateful right, the American people have turned against Bush and his war, and now they (the corporate media) is scrambling to follow.

Careful that you don't step in that bucket of hateful spew . . .

32. Yes, you're right.
Have a frying pan. :spank: Pardon my frustration... sometimes it truly does get the better of me. It's truly depressing to see America from an outside perspective. One one hand you have courageous patriots like Symbolman, and on the other hand MILLIONS who cringe, YET TUNE IN. It's much like watching a family member in an abusive relationship...

33. That's a good analogy
I think a lot of America is suffering from something like a domestic abuse syndrome -- when those who claim to act in their best interests are really doing the opposite, it can be hard to face.

I think the best thing about the web is being able to talk to people who offer that outside perspective, and I certainly understand your frustration. In fact, I am amazed that anyone could still have faith in our ability to uphold our own constitution. It must be terribly dissapointing.

The thing is, the media became powerful in a very short period of time, and this power fell into the hands of the military-industrial complex. And how are people supposed to get that information? Not on the GE-owned NBC Nightly News.

So, the media is the battleground. We have to get it back. The internet is a great tool -- it is our best hope! I make my little Flash animations -- I'm not as prolific as Symbolman, but it is immensely satisfying to create your own messages.

Where are you posting from, if I may ask?

35. I'm in a place where
walking through the neighborhood 60 years later one can see clearly how much devastation was caused by bombs or look down at the sidewalk to read the bronze plaques, memorials to those seized from their homes and murdered. It's a place where children are taught about the ravages of fascism and those who survived it are slowly dying off...

Then I remember that they are simple idiots as well as racist.

14. Both statements blame African-Americans for the racism of others
It's not that O'Reilly and Beck will say anything racist, according to them...it's how African-Americans will take what they say...so it's not Bill and Glenn's fault for what they say..it's the fault of African-Americans for how they "take" it.

Cause gee, they don't mean any offense and black folks are just being so sensitive and taking it all wrong...so they'll both just avoid talking to black people...cause it's the black people creating the problem...not what either Bill or Glenn will say

38. So I never watch Glenn Beck
Because seeing him one time just irritated me so much that I cannot stand him any more. That being said, am I noticing that almost all of his commercials present something focused on that "problem" of illegal immigration, how no one is doing anything about it, and how dangerous those immigrants are? He is just up there with Rush in my mind: Just come out and say you are racist and get it over with. We all know it, and inside your heart you know it too. Let's just save us all some time and energy and own up to it.
