Please explain our Democracy, majority rule...etc?
67% say they oppose * on the escalation
68% say the oppose *'s policy in Iraq,
68% oppose * on everything else

Next week, when the senate votes 64-30 expressing their opposition to the urge to surge, would that be enough in a Democracy to reverse * decision?

Add all the military Generals who oppose it, add all the soldiers who signed a petition against it, add the November 7 election results...etc.

When is a Democracy a Democracy? How does it work?

1. No, no, no! You've misunderstood entirely.
It's not the majority of PEOPLE that rule. It's the majority of DOLLARS.

2. It doesn't have to be that way.
If we get the trifecta, pull out of Iraq, and public financing, in that order. We in the grass roots should make it very, VERY explicit to all reps, senators, and candidates, that we expect this of them.

3. But the USA is a Republic. Therefore, we elected the representatives who will vote against Bush's
plan, but that vote will do nothing since GWB anointed himself King.

4. If our representatives vote the way I think they will on this resolution, then he MUST
be forced to comply with the will of the people, it is that simple.

5. When you say "our democracy," what country are you talking about?
What country are you writing from that has democracy, majority rule, fair elections, and constitutional limits on its chief executive's war-making? I'd just like to know, after living through 6 years of Dubya in the U.S., where we've lacked those things.
