Randi (Rhode's) style is becoming very annoying, IMO

Is anyone else finding Randi's style a huge turnoff?

I had my XM radio and was listening to her while on my way home from work. She proceeded to yell at the top of her lungs to a caller, really for no apparent reason. The caller was trying to make his point, and Randi wanted to dominate the conversation. She barely let the guy get a word in edgewise, and then she was complaining to HIM about him supposedly not letting her talk.

I've come to the conclusion that she just loves the sound of her own voice. What is her point in taking callers, if she doesn't want them to say very much?

I wish she wouldn't shout over the callers as much as she does. On the other hand, she often has good guests (other than call-ins) whom she doesn't interrupt. I change the station when she grates on my nerves.

I listen to her most of the time and can take her most of the time, but there are days.....when it's a little challenging and I have to turn her off.

And I'm not comfortable about her complaining about crying babies on airplanes....it's like she sometimes flaunts and enjoys the privilege of motherhood without having gone through certain harrowing experiences that moms go through....(I mean really, do you think the mom of the crying baby really enjoys it? Where's the compassion? And why did she feel the need to use that ordeal in a Bose advertisement? :wtf:)

Other than that, she's fine...definitely better than anything on reich wing radio.

I enjoy listening to Randi much more than the few times that she bugs me. When she bugs me I either walk into another room, or turn the volume down when I'm in the car, take a deep breath and turn the volume up.

I can't imagine going through my day without her, Sam Sedar, Thom Hartmann, and it is a real treat when I get to stream Mike Malloy at night (like now).

:P Hey, I like randi most of the time, and have defended her against those that just can't stand her. But anyone who thinks her style is not occasionally jarring is just not listening IMHO. Plus, it would take very little effort on her part to be more polite to her callers. She must receive tons of critical mail about her behavior. The fact that she continues this is a sign that she doesn't really care what her listeners think.

I agree with most of what she says but she so needs to switch to decaf. I've heard interviews of hers with people like Barbara Boxer which mainly consisted of her lecturing the interviewee.

I understand and subscribe to the proposition that if you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. But it's possible to express great moral outrage with humor (Stephanie Miller, say:loveya:) rather than bile and bluster, or at least with a calmer delivery.

I personally find RRhodes tough to take in large doses, although I do understand that she has plenty of fans. Still I think she could have such a better just by dialing it down a notch or three.

a dish that everyone loves, all the time. However, she is a powerful weapon, a vibrant source of truth and anti-bullshit and is damned near irreplaceable.

I love her but find a total diet of her with no other ingredients a bit cloying.

Do I think she is a little shrill at times? - absolutely - But you know, she was a soldier - she earned a lot of rights that O'Reily (and many in this administration) activly avoided.

If you can get past his intense rants, he sort of balances that out by being respectful to his liberal callers and his occasional guests. Though he does have a bad habit of waiting until the last hour to take calls.

and consequently Randi feels privileged to talk over anybody she feels like talking over, cuz she figures people are tuning in to hesr her, not some douche who calls up.

I have some problems with this--like when she talks over people (especially guests) I really want to hear, or if she's off on some personal rant that has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

I like Randi, even when she interrupts. Usually when a caller is interrupted, the caller has made whatever point they called about and the interruption keeps the caller from rambling on about the same point.

If you had listened to the rest of what she said, she explained that Nader didn't know she lived in Palm Beach at the time of the 2000 election and was personally involved with the brouhaha there so she called him on it.
