I've started perusing real estate listings
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 12:35 PM by burythehatchet
in France.

Partially because its a psycholoical crutch as an "escape route".

Partially because France represents the political philosophy that I agree with most.

Partially because my son carries a French passport and he plans to work there when he graduates.

Partially because if I can become a citizen of France I will never have to worry about healthcare.

Partially because I want to live next door to a French vineyard.

Partially because I've had enough.

1. My friend lived there for two years
The problem is finding work. Up until now you could only work 40 hours a week even if you need to work more to make more money, tough luck. Trying to get someone to do any work is also difficult. Lunch is two hours or more with wine so usually nothing much gets done after lunch. She wanted work done on her daughters house and it went on forever without completing anything. My friend is now back in the states.

3. I'm jealous
One of my college friends now lives there. Her mom is French and her dad is British. He was a professor in the US for a while. After he retired, they went to France.

The thought has certainly crossed my mind a few times. But my French is horrible and I prefer tropical climates.
