1. I think the Dems should let the Republicans...
...freak out over stem cells and make their ridiculous pro-life speeches about them,
and the Dems should say nothing.

No one will go to the polls--one way or another--over stem cells.

I think this is an issue that the Republicans use to shore up their fundie, nutjob base. Let them.
Let them feign compassion for those little blastocysts.

The Democrats should not get sucked into such an inane conversation.

2. I disagree
I think the Michael J. Fox commercial in Missouri was instrumental in Claire McCaskill's win there.

This IS an issue that resonates with a lot of people.

3. Stem cells are a symbolic issue. It was the first major public stand that Bush
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 01:16 AM by Hissyspit
took back in 2001, indicating to the country at large that his was going to be a brain-dead, illogical, patriarchal authoritarian administration. It took a while, but people finally woke up to the ludicrousness of the situation, with the help of Nancy Reagan and Michael J. Fox.

Yes, let the Bushies bury themselves.
