You're not as important as a judge
You have definitely taken a turn for the worse after that Person of the Year business. The recent block by the Senate Republicans to discuss non-binding resolutions against Bush's surge has shown, hopefully, to most people where the remaining Republicans' vested interest are, and it turns out you are nowhere in the equation.

On Nov. 12, 2003, when the nuclear option was being dangled in front of us, Sen. Mitch McConnell said the following on CNN:

Well, what's ugly is...preventing fundamental fairness, and that is giving the president's nominees that make it out of a committee on to the floor of the Senate a simple majority vote. After all, this is a democracy.

So, this is a democracy, and in early November of 2006, many Republicans were reminded of that, as offices were cleaned out to make room for a Democratic Congress, elected by you. And where is McConnell now? He's leading a block on...what's it called...an up or down vote!!

Remember that phrase? Every judge, regardless of background history, lack of experience, questionable judgements, etc., was entitled to this up or down vote, and to no surprise, the Republicans won the numbers game, putting many questionable, to be polite, nominees behind the bench---hello, Justice Alito.

But, as the shoe shifts to the other foot, it turns out that while judges deserve this vote, you don't so much. Who put these Democrats in office? Unless McConnell is calling for a probe into Diebold's holdings, I'm pretty sure we're in agreement that we did. And we want out of Iraq.

I encourage you to get in touch with McConnell, or any other of the remaining Republican senators, and remind them that you are just as important than an agenda-driven judge, and you demand an up or down vote on this war.
