There are people of my acquaintance who believe you are setting the stage to declare martial law and suspend the Constitution and free elections indefinitely, to became "The Decider" in fact as well as name.
While I have, in the past several years, developed a sense of disdain for your intelligence, foresight, and the moral rectitude of your followers and enablers, I seriously doubt you are either that stupid or that insane.
Perhaps I'm naive in this respect. It's certainly possible.
Your dislike of the Constitution which you swore to uphold is hardly a secret. I truly wonder what it's like to be an oathbreaker of that magnitude. Most of us can only imagine. You've certainly made clear how little respect you have for the people of this country by allowing your minions to lie to us about the dangers posed by Iraq so you could have our little war, and then not only continuing to lie, but also by disregarding the almost overwhelming support for bringing the war to an end.
You were elected to represent the people of the United States, and, in extension, to share that responsibility with Congress, which you've also chosen to ignore by claiming some nebulous "executive privilege" that allows you to ignore the rule of law and the will of the people.
I have to ask you, George. Why do you hate America? Why do you hate the Constitution, and why do you hate our soldiers that you are so willing to throw away? You don't actually support the troops, though your lackeys lie to us about that even as you threaten to veto bills that might give them a better chance to survive the hell you've sent them to?
I wonder.
I don't think you'll do what they're afraid you'll do. You're already compared to Hitler. To take that particular step would guarantee your infamy for all of history and assure that your name will forever be conjoined to his. Some legacy that would be.
The rest of the world hates and fears us now, which is hardly a recommendation. Smearing the name of this great nation for one's own aggrandizement is not only foolish, it's downright criminal. No one in the history of the country has done so much to bring down our status in the eyes of the world.
Condoning--no, defending--the practice of torture, throwing people into prison camps with no hope of defense, surrounding yourself with yes men, directing an attack on a country resulting in thousands upon thousands of deaths, ignoring the rule of law here at home, and blatantly lying to the American people is just a partial list of your crimes.
You're a brother to Saddam Hussein under the skin. Was the reason you hated him so blindly because you saw him every time you looked in the mirror?
There are still those who follow you blindly, who would stand up and cheer if you declared yourself dictator. Don't let these people fool you. They are the same ones who would have followed Hitler had they been born into that place at that time. They do not deserve to call themselves Americans. They barely have the right to call themselves human.
I have to wonder how many of your actions so far can be laid at the feet of simple fear. Fear of failure, fear of looking weak, or fear of indecisiveness. I wish I knew. Many people have psycho-analyzed you, but it always seemed to me that something important was missing.
We may never know the real George W. Bush. But we'll judge him just the same.
Have a care, sir. The destruction of this great nation could end up being your legacy. And, in that case, history will NEVER redeem you.
