How can Republicans throw support to a lawyer from New York...
who supports the war,
believes in the right of women to choose,
approves of gun control,
wants to reinstate the assault rifle ban,
understands that gays have rights too,
and has a history of marital problems...

....while they disingenuously call Hillary Clinton an agent of the far left wing?

I watched Hannity toss softballs to Rudy in an "exclusive" interview last night. While Sean patiently listened to all the above positions, he shifted into bully mode in the next segment when Hillary was discussed, criticizing her for similar views.

3. I wonder if they will
When the Repug base gets a look at what is really behind Rudy's 9/11 guilding they might not be as enthralled.

It's a year before the primaries and in that year a lot will come out about Rudy. It will be entertaining watch.

Other than Rudy's support for the war, his positions on all the social issues read more like a Democrat. I can't see how that will win him the primary.

7. Two reasons ...
1) Because they are brainless twits ... They will buy ANYTHING that is tossed at them by their masters ...

2) Their bizarre prediliction toward worshipping 9-11 ... In their world, his being in NYC on the day, being a republican and being an elected official annoints him to legendary status ...

8. At times they are like the left - they want to win and don't care who wins
as long as they have the correct letter after their name.

Hillary and Jeb Bush could switch parties tomorrow and both sides would support their new letter carrier :)

9. He'll do OK in Iowa and New Hampshire, but then it will end badly.

Interestingly, Rudy Giuliani takes a lot of support from John McCain, and both Chuck Hagel and Mitt Romney will draw from a pool of support that largely overlaps with Giuliani's and McCain's support.

The fact that these four candidates will be slopping at the same Repub voter trough means that Mike Huckabee or Sam Brownback has a real chance to unite the far-right fundamentalist coalition (which doesn't trust McCain, will not abide Giuliani's "big city values," and may not be all that keen on Romney's Mormonism). Huckabee's apparent Vice Presidential aspirations might push Brownback to the forefront. I would not be shocked to see a Brownback/McCain or Brownback/Giuliani ticket (but if either Giuliani or McCain pulls it together and wins, I expect Huckabee to be a top VP option).

Tom Tancredo is a one-issue candidate who is running just to influence the scope of the debate and he knows he has no chance whatsoever of winning.
