... even though I vocally mentioned things like Nixon having had documented plans to nuke North Vietnam that were stopped by both impeachment and protest marches as a way to contend with his notion that impeachment gets in the way of getting other things done and preventing other bad things from happening (like our increased involvement in Iraq).
It was a party and I was talking to many people and didn't notice when he left. I'll mention it to other club members. I think if we make a big gesture to ask him back, hopefully that will help make him a messenger to others like him that even though we've got strong opinions, we're a good crowd to be with to help Americans be better off.
I say the same to a number of Republicans out there, etc. too. Not so much as part of our Democratic Club, but just as personal friends, I will welcome them and not even try mentioning to them that I "forgive them for their mistakes". The key is that I want to hear from their heart that they recognize that Bush and those around him are a huge problem that needs to be fixed, and that they are open to suggestions and working with others to help stop him. People who are willing to admit when they've been wrong, and change their ways and work to correct these problems now, I don't want to hold it over them any "mistakes" I might judge them having made in the past. On some issues I won't even hold it against them if they have honest differences of opinion on some things. But defending our constitution and keeping our democratic system is where there is NO compromise!
But more and more I'm getting impatient and furiously angry with those that continue to be spiteful Bush apologists, rationalizing their Rushbo crap, and trying to play the fear mongering game on all Democrats. There's still plenty of those out there, and they need to be isolated and SLAPPED down heavily. They've been allowed to get their way for WAY too long now, and they have to know that there's a price to be paid for what they are doing now. There comes a point where ignorance as an excuse to not be on board the wagon to impeach these bums is not going to cut it any more. At some point everyone's going to have had the opportunity to see these criminals for who they are, and they have to decide whether they want to be Americans again or become a part of a national mob-run fascist state.
