BUSH: Why Failing Makes Him Happy
BUSH: Why Failing Makes Him Happy (He's Nuts!)

Bush's Cognitive Dissonance
__

By Eugene Robinson
Friday, July 20, 2007; Page A19

One hopes the leader of the free world hasn't really, truly lost touch with objective reality. But one does have to wonder.

.....................

"He says the most useful argument to make in support of his policy is to show what failure would mean," Barone wrote of the president and Iraq. "It would mean an ascendant radicalism, among both Shia and Sunni Muslims, and it would embolden sponsors of terrorism such as Iran. Al-Qaeda would be emboldened and would be able to recruit forces."

Excuse me again? This is what Bush believes would happen? Hasn't he noticed that these catastrophes have already befallen us? And that they are the direct consequence of his decision to invade and occupy Iraq?

At a news conference last week, someone tried to point this out. Bush replied with such a bizarre version of history that I hope he was being cynical and doesn't really believe what he said: "Actually, I was hoping to solve the Iraqi issue diplomatically. That's why I went to the United Nations and worked with the United Nations Security Council, which unanimously passed a resolution that said disclose, disarm or face serious consequences. That was the message, the clear message to Saddam Hussein. He chose the course. . . . It was his decision to make."

Let's see, we have learned that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. That means Bush is claiming that Saddam Hussein "chose" the invasion -- and, ultimately, his own death -- by not showing us what he didn't have.

2. Our Pathetic President
He can't see the disaster he's created because he's blinded by the disaster he imagines "might" happen.

If good people weren't dying, it would be comical.

3. Thanks for posting -- and as always, the comments section is worth hours of entertainment.
My favorite so far:

Like one retired general said:

For the last six years we have been conducting a test on if having a smart or stupid President really makes a difference, and the results are in.

4. some great ones, I like this:
Bush's behavior makes sense when you realize that he has absolutely no belief in, or understanding ofm objective reality. He believes in magic, not science. He truely believes that if he wishes something strongly enough it will happen. The technical name for this kind of person is an "insane idiot". He should not be in charge of anything. Our congress is guilty of enabling him by leaving him in power. He should be relieved of command under the 25th ammendment. There is no way he should have command of the military and have his hand on the nuclear button.

5. He's never been in touch with reality.
I am not aware of him ever holding an actual job where you have to show up at a certain time and stay there and do some work--and do it right--for X number of hours every day. I'm not convinced that he has ever even known anybody who is not a millionaire or the child of a millionaire or billionaire. How much reality could there possibly be in such an insular life?

13. You Forgot Something Important
You forgot the part about "And he has never know a life where he has ever had to actually work honestly for his gains, or to take real personal responsibility for his failures. If he couldn't earn it, or screwed up something, Daddy and the family money/connections acquired it or made it disappear."

As for the Hussein observation, Bush thinks as magically as a schizophrenic who's gone off his medication.

7. Typical abuser rationalization: "I tried to be nice but...."
"Disarm or be invaded." What a classic set-up once you get past the logical fallacy part of it. Which sucks if you don't have any WMDs cause you're damned either way and it's nobody's fault but your own. :eyes:

8. Why Failure Doesn't Matter (to them)
It's been a win-win situation for them from the beginning.

If their grandiose scheme had actually worked, they'd have their puppet government and their oil law and would be in the driver's seat. If it failed, chaos would reign -- (good business for all their pals in MIC) -- and the Iraqi oil-fields would or could be taken out of service, thus increasing the value of their own energy holdings.

They probably didn't give a damn which way it turned out.

10. That's an indication of megalomania ... regarding himself as a Natural Law.
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 11:29 AM by TahitiNut
The underlying presumption in such a posture is that he's merely a Natural Force - the "left hand of God" - and he's merely doing the Right Thing. Everyone else is responsible for their choices - but he's required to act according to what's Right and Good. "Free Choice" (between Good and Evil) is something for those who're Unsaved ... while HE is Saved and therefore acting as a part of the Natural Law.

This is a frightening (but NOT unknown) perspective - shared by mass murderers and criminal psychotics.

I've said it repeatedly (and it's NOT hyperbole): This person belongs in a padded cell for the rest of his natural, miserable life.

Public Service Notice: Please ... "He's Nuts" is a disservice to all Nuts everywhere. Let's not demean one of the essential ingredients of the Human Fruitcake through association with Chimperor Disgustsus.
Thank you, on behalf of the International Coalition of Fruits & Nuts.
