2. We have the best blueprint. When we strive to fulfill the promises
made to us in our Constitution, then I would say "Yes. We are the greatest Country in the World."

When we depart from that blueprint, when we lose our great checks and balances, when we allow a rogue administration to run roughshod over our Bill of Rights and actually claim that we have no "inherent right of habeas corpus", when a madman president can unilaterally declare a citizen "an unlawful enemy combatant" and disappear him for all time, when people working for us and using our money can kidnap people and whisk them away to foreign prisons to be tortured, then we are no better than any tin-pot dictatorship that has ever existed throughout the history of Time.

I hope a DUer can get through. . I am trying.

3. Do These People Know What "Greatest" Means?
To my grandparents who came here a century ago, it meant the greatest opportunity to have a full and complete life...health, education and a future. It wasn't the size of the army or how much money was here...it was the wealth in the diversity of the people and the ability to make a better life for yourself. I know my grandfather wouldn't recognize this country...it more resembled the Russia he fled from.

This country has developed a myopic view of the world...a lot of it built up by our media. Every news story is centered on "how it affects America" and there are few disputes in the world where our government isn't attempting to meddle in. Greatness? Only when it's an agent for positive change...which hasn't occured in the past 6 years and only for brief periods in my lifetime.

My grandparents weren't impressed with the size of battleships, but in the words of the Constitution...the one thing that makes this country great and has been so abused by this regime. On second thought, I can hear my grandparents crying.
