CHRISTIANS UNDER ATTACK FROM U.S. SENATE

CHURCHES TO BE SILENCED BY HATE CRIMES LEGISLATION COVERTLY INSERTED INTO DEFENSE SPENDING BILL

WASHINGTON—Rev. Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America, calls upon values voters across America to call their senators and demand they oppose S. 1105, the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, covertly inserted Wednesday into a Defense Reauthorization bill. The bill, sponsored by Senators Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Gordon Smith (R-Ore.), is an amendment to a Defense Reauthorization bill and will bypass the Senate committee process, thereby denying significant debate on the legislation.

"These actions undermine the U.S. war effort and the intent of our Founding Fathers," states Scarborough. "Senate Democrats introduced legislation that will punish Christians for preaching certain biblical principles and lead to pastors being jailed in violation of their First Amendment rights as we have already witnessed in Europe."

The legislation would classify gender and sexual orientation under federal law as a specially protected class of people, and will unnecessarily federalize most crimes. The law would cause law enforcement personnel to become "thought police," thereby determining whether a crime, already punishable under existing laws, will be prosecuted as a federal "hate crime."

Scarborough continues, "Teaching traditional biblical beliefs about homosexuality would become 'hate speech.' If this bill passes, a pastor who preaches about homosexuality being sin could be prosecuted if someone who has heard his message commits a crime against a homosexual. The implications for conservative biblical pastors who have broadcast ministries are staggering. We cannot allow Christians to be dragged into court for simply fulfilling their biblical mandate of preaching the gospel."

3. Idiots, every one of them
There's no law against preaching the gospel. Only against harming other people in the name of "religion". For example, you can tell people that the Bible states that shellfish is an abomination. But if you shoot the cook at Red Lobster you're going to jail, and you can't claim "Christian Persecution" when you do.

4. Ok, I admit I'm not too smart
So would someone please explain to me how hate crimes legislation undermines the war effort? Is it because all gay haters are in the military? No, I don't think that's it. Is it because this guy is nuts? Ah ha! I think maybe that's it! With all due respect to Bugs Bunny, the guy is certifiably looney tunes.
