Wow - another LTTE from a recovering * supporter
The tide has GOT to be turning with the growth of letters like this in the Richmond Crimes-Disgrace... uh - I mean Times-Dispatch, our local paper (emphasis mine):

Former Supporter Wants Bush Impeached

Editor, Times-Dispatch:
Our country just had a very near-miss with the defeat of the immigration amnesty bill. It would have been a direct hit if our president had had it his way. While some could argue we have amnesty by default, I sleep much better knowing that this flawed initiative was wrested from President Bush's hand, despite all the arm-twisting used in resurrecting his cause briefly.

If there was ever any doubt that Bush intended to legalize the illegal, then let his actions in commuting Scooter Libby's sentence buttress this assertion. I am ashamed now as a Republican who twice voted for Bush and am appalled at his mercenary stubbornness -- unmasked by his keeping the United States embroiled in Iraq simply to profit Halliburton, his flagrant contempt for our Constitution, and his stonewalling of congressional efforts to right his wrongs.

Perhaps the most telling proof that Bush is careening out of control is his let-them-eat-cake attitude toward the will of the American people. It was my hope that electing Jim Webb to tilt the balance of Congress could put the brakes on this administration. But the public outcry to end this war has emboldened the White House.

The louder the people scream, the more determined the president is to impose his own will. Let there be no mistake: It is true that absolute power corrupts absolutely. But it is never too late to convene impeachment hearings! Are you listening, Sen. Webb?

Beth Damerel. Richmond.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well Beth, since you "twice voted for Bush" and his "his let-them-eat-cake attitude" - I think you should just eat your damn cake and shut the hell up. It's ALL YOUR FAULT! Suck it up.
1. Revel in his strong-yet-folksy leadership, Beth ol' girl
This IS what you voted for, isn't it? In fact, you voted TWICE for it.
"Suck it up", indeed. Couldn't have said it better with fewer letters myself.
4. Does "strong-yet-folksy" mean the same as
"So-ignorant-I-want-to-jam-nails-in-my-ears-when-he-speaks"?
2. So she's no longer going to carry water for bush and his fellow criminals
That's great since the military deserter will never be on a ballot for any post. I just don't get it. I ain't that smart but I opposed this Iraqi nonsense long before we went, just like a whole bunch of fellow evil liberals. And there can be no doubt we were absolutely right. We told ya so just doesn't have the same ring to it.
3. I don't believe that writer voted twice for Bush.
I think that was written by someone who hasn't liked Bush from the beginning. IMHO there's no way a person who voted for Bush TWICE is smart enough to even recognize a "let um eat cake attitude".
Just MHO.
5. I don't know. It's possible . . . could go either way
My dad voted twice for Bush and wow, you should hear him go off on him. He is trying to get everyone to read Al Gore's book now. He says this is the biggest mistake he made since voting for Nixon.
which is saying something.
22. True. I've also detected a subtle shift, or at least
toning down of the RW bullshit since Ross Mackenzie hung it up (at least as editorial editor...) Maybe just hopeful thinking
7. If this person told the truth
and did, indeed, vote for Idiot twice, then she has finally awakened. We need more of her to help us get rid of this administration.
9. As much as I'd love to laugh and agree with you, I think the responsible, country-loving thing to do
is to hold out our hands in friendship with a hearty: If you betray us again, we'll cut ya.
Some people are really slow, really scared, and really arrogant and it's not always their fault. At least she finally came around. We've got to break this fifty-fifty split in this country and we're not going to do it unless we woo over a fair number of the 20% who aren't the "nutty 28%"...
~~In my humble opinion
14. Not sure I agree. I was arguing with Bro
the other day - going on about how * is betraying his party - but he ended his whining by saying - and I quote: "as bad as he's been - we're "STILL BETTER OFF" than if Kerry got elected" :grr:
We're also "better off than if Gore got elected."
(Wait, wasn't Gore elected?).
your bro imagine Kerry would have created. It must be a horror filled place to make * look better.
10. Maybe she should have turned the volume up during the debates and actually
LISTENED to them as a citizen of this country with responsibilities.
The differences were there - stark and clear for anyone who LISTENED.
11. Even accepting that I want everyone to support impeachment, it does seem
that his sheeple are only deserting Pvt. AWOL because he is not right-wing enough (the immigration issue).
Then, they throw in the issues liberals want him removed for as a way of seeking additional rationalization for their change of opinion.
It is because they were assholes in the first place that he was able to steal both elections.
Thanks, but no thanks for your support. Way too little and way too-goddamned late.
13. Voting for him once could be considered a mistake, but
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 01:20 PM by Rob H.
voting for him that second time means that she pole-vaulted over the not-so-fine line between error and outright ignorance, imo. It isn't as if he was a stellar president during his first term and things only started going downhill after his second inauguration.
Edit: spelling. :blush:
18. My fellow Leporine:
If we are going to get these insane criminals out of office, then we're going to need all the help we can get.
I, for one, rather than excoriating Beth for her past sins, find it fit to welcome her to our side of the barricades.
