7. Redstone I saw him in concert in San Antonio when "Purple Rain"
came out....I am telling you he had some Jimmi Hendrix spirits in that guitar....He is one hell of a showman. He is an amazing artist.

10. That he is. I had not heard any of his music before last night, though I had heard that
he is kind of a Hendrix acolyte.

Maybe the hype, and the purple clothes, and the chicas, and the retinues, all that stuff had thrown me off...besides the fact that I do not listen to commercial radio stations.

But I've heard him now, and I like what I hear.

14. I have listened to his old albums very creative and some very
racey lyrics. I loved it then and I love it now, and this is a guy who was way ahead of his time in the 80's.

Some of the albums you have to really listen to the lyrics because you may think you hear one thing but when you really listen....yowza, yowza, yowza....

15. I'll take your advice then, and give his early stuff a listen. Sounds like I've
been missing out on some good stuff.

16. There's a video of While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Petty, Lynne, Prince)
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 10:57 PM by Lars39
that *was* on youtube(curse you Viacom!!!) that could literally make the hair stand up on the back of my neck...it's that good. I think it was a VH1 tribute to George Harrison. Well worth looking for.

On edit: Found it! http://tinyurl.com/27blcr

25. I just wish he'd come out with some new music for us old fans.
As a long time fan, I'm a bit tired of his 80's stuff. But, he certainly carved out a genre all for himself. That said, he is an amazing guitarist and I wish he'd focus more on that skill.

My husband (who plays guitar - recreationally) never liked Prince until we rented the "SIGN O THE TIMES" concert. He had to admit, he's very talented.

Check it out on netflix if you subscribe:

3. I like it. A lot of people don't like the guy.....
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 09:01 PM by Hotler
He is different and not afraid to take his music in different directions. I like his rock, funk, r&b, styles the best and just about anything he does that has and features big horn sections.
P.S. He does a song called "Sexy MF'er" That one has funk and horns and is a good song.

;) He's always been "spiritual." He simply thinks sex is an uhm, religious experience. He must be doing something right? :P

29. What I want to know is:
If Heather Wilson saw Prince's 'shadow' last night (and I think you know what I mean by 'shadow'), does that mean we're in for six more weeks of feigned outrage?
