LIEberman: to VOTE "will discourage our troops, hearten our enemies, and showcase our disunity"
Edited on Mon Feb-05-07 08:10 PM by jefferson_dem
That's right, LIEberman just said on the Senate floor...to merely VOTE on the resolution - for the Senate to simply express the "will of the people" ... "is an act which, I fear, will discourage our troops, hearten our enemies, and showcase our disunity." :grr:

4. Isn't the point to express our disunity?
That we are not all united in a collective war jones? Sigh. Every so often I think I ought to change my avatar. But then Lieberman opens his mouth, and I realize I'm still standing with Lamont.

6. Lieberman is a republican in independent clothing.
Thank god we don't have to say he's a democrat anymore.

Our soldiers aren't discouraged enough already, being caught in an unwinnable conflict in a distant land with an alien culture where they can't tell friend from foe; aren't discouraged enough by the steady casualty rate and the almost-daily attacks that inflict the death of a thousand cuts upon our army; aren't discouraged by the fact that their commander-in-chief evidently has no acquaintance with reality, and that their presence in Iraq is an exercise in futility...and as for disunity, SEVENTY-TWO PERCENT of Americans DISAPPROVE of the conduct of the war, and a decided majority favour disengagement and redeployment of American forces. It seems that Lieberman's the one who's "disunited".

9. Dear Joe; a message for you from the MAJORITY of US TROOPS;
Since you presume to speak for them, why dontcha shut the fuck up and LISTEN to them for a change, MFer;

Majority of troops dissatisfied with handling of war; believe war was wrong

The Military Times newspapers published a massive new poll after questioning 6,000 randomly selected active-duty members of the Armed Forces. The results ran counter to much of the conventional wisdom -- barely one in three service members approve of the way the president is handling the war; a majority believe it was wrong to go into Iraq in the first place; and a plurality reject the notion of sending additional troops into the war.
