Darryl Worley...HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN?
I live in Indiana where rednecks outnumber roaches so i had to hear this song on a daily basis during the run up to the Iraq War.

Song: HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN LYRICS

I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war.
I say there's some things worth fightin' for.
What about our freedom, and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down.
They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in
Before you start preachin' let me ask you this my friend.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten, when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin through a livin hell
And you say we shouldn't worry bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

You took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbin for you and me
It'll just breed anger is what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country just out lookin' for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say right.

Chorus:

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
you can bet they remember just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten
All the people killed
Yes some went down like heroes
In that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten
About our Pentagon
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?!

1. Strange
This song doesn't seem to get played too much anymore. Republican "patriotism" and their talking points don't seem to have to much of a shelf life.

The world really doesn't need another bad lyricist.
but hey, the shrub DOES need more cannon fodder.

What part of Indiana?
I grew up in Terre Haute and I know exactly
what you mean about the red necks out numbering the roaches.

More bars per square block than any place on the planet too....
nothing more disturbing that having to listen to a bar stool warrior
garble on repeating the latest progaganda from Faux news
as he'she slugs down another cheap beer during "Happy Hour."

I feel for you.
Been there, done that.

3. I think * has forgotten
and I don't think anybody is buying this stupid belligerent bullshit any longer. Most people have finally realized that it was all empty bluster and those behind it didn't have the courage to back up their tough talk with action. so where the fuck are we in the WOT? Pretty much where we were on 9/10/01 but with a lot more Middle Eastern people pissed off at us than there were then.

4. I have not forgotten being called a traitor because I marched for peace....
I have not forgotten that America *was* a country based on the rule of Law, and I believe now as I did then - that the courts are the proper place to bring people to justice. What we did to Saddams sons was not justice, it was a lynching. Whether they were the most horrid of creatures does not really matter here - what matters is that our government sunk to the lowest levels possible by slaughtering people withou due process, without charges, without JUSTICE.

We sunk to Saddam's level with our atrocities in Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.

We sunk to Al Qaeda's level with our atrocities in Fallujah.

I have not forgotten America, with her beauty and her warts... I miss America. I miss the promise and reality of one nation, with liberty and justice for all. I miss being seen as a beacon of hope, decency and democracy.

I have not forgotten the lies leading up to the war. I have not forgotten "mission accomplished" or "bring 'em on".

I have not forgotten.

6. You gotta love it
Who exactly "on the left" ever said don't worry about Bin Laden. The only person who's said anything like that was Dumbya himself.

8. I thought I heard on the radio about a month or so ago that he's
changed his tune since he wrote that song and opposes the Iraq war....dunno  someone around here can clarify things, I'm sure.

9. Well, he wrote a song called "I Just Came Back From A War"
It tells how different soldiers are after coming home from the war, and that part is true. But there's nothing in it to say he blames people other than anti-war people for "not caring" or the people in Iraq who hated "everything I stand for."
