I know, I know - the fate of RFK Stadium isn't exactly one of America's pressing concerns. Nevertheless, the rumors that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder (ugh) might have the stadium razed to the ground once the Nationals make their move is not pleasing to me; I don't like the idea of anything dedicated to or named after RFK being destroyed.

1. I'll cry. The upper deck in the new stadium will be to far up and back to be worth going to. nt

11. The Allman Brothers Were At These Shows Too

I climbed up into one of the midway-back speaker stands for a good part of one of the shows.
Much better view and not quite as hot.

12. Then I was prob'ly there
Yeah, I seem to recall the Dead played, but my memories are getting hazy.
At the concert I went to, some people were acting like idiots, shooting firecrackers into the audience around them and smashing bottles left and right.

4. The most stoned I had ever been in my life happened there
Leon Russel New Riders of the Purple Sage concert. Guys were walking around holding up grams hawking hash like peanuts at a baseball game.

7. That would make the DC United sad
They would have to play in the tidal basin.

10. That's what I have heard.
I understand Snyder wants to move the Redskins to the RFK location with a new stadium. Apparently he owns the FedEx stadium and the land in Largo, MD where they play now. He could make more money selling the stadium and land and having FedEx razed, than keeping the redskins there.

14. The same thing that happened to JFK stadium in Philly.
Demolished for a better venue or maybe a parking lot. It happens. The building is decrepit.
