Vitter will have to resign
he can't withstand a prostitution scandal.

Blanco will appoint his replacement. We're going to gain one seat in the Senate. Yay for us.

Don't bother calling her, she'll cut you off.

6. Livingston
Well, Livingston showed a little decency by resigning (for being a repuke hypocrite), but Vitter is 100% Bushlicker.

8. Livingston didn't really have to resign, he just couldn't become Speaker
And I suppose that when that was snatched from him, he didn't see a point in staying in Congress.

10. Livingston resigned out of embarrassment of costing himself the Speakership and didn't want to be

just a member of the house after that. He would have won reelection.

I forgot about his desire for the Speakership.

Btw, I went to high school with his son.

26. Having known a Louisiana Catholic or two, I would guess
the guiding philosophy is still the same--
No point in going to confession if you have nothing to confess and confession is good for the soul. So...

Also it's in for a penny, in for a pound. Confessing to envy or other venal sins isn't very gratifying, so, if you are going to confess, it should be for something really good, otherwise, why attract attention to yourself?

Ted Haggard recovered from homosexuality in 2 weeks with the guidance of the lord. They can do anything and get away with it as long as they play the "I got better through Jesus" card.

22. I got a couple of questions on those (must be something new) cards
1. Do they work well on spouses, family and friends?

2. Can you pick them up at the local five and dime drugstore or do you need one of those laying hands on type of ceremonials?

P.S. not that i think i would ever need one but that old boy scout motto "be prepared" seems to never leave my head nowadays

Edited on Tue Jul-10-07 12:54 AM by Art_from_Ark
The only Repub Congressman/Senator I can think of who has ever resigned a position as a result of a sexual fling with an adult woman was Rep. Bob Livingston (also from Louisiana), who resigned as Speaker of the House, and then that was just because he would have been presiding over the Bill Clinton lying-about-sex impeachment circus.

He's by far the best choice in terms of being able to get re-elected.

15. Well, if Bill Clinton had to be Impeached for an affair, Mr. Hypocrite Vitter
needs to slither away in shame.

I wonder how many MORE repukes are in that little black book? Bwahahahahahahaha!

The thing IS....NO ONE would give a rats ass about what the repukes do in their personal life had they not put themselves on that self righteous, high and mighty, morals and values pedestal. Dumb asses.

If he's the biggest fish, I can't imagine the GOP allowing him to stay around through the '08 election. He would help sink them.

So, his reelection prospects are now very poor. It seems he lied during his campaign, slinging this accusation "just crass Louisiana politics."

Senator's Number on 'Madam' Phone List

During his Senate campaign, Vitter was accused by a member of the Louisiana Republican State Central Committee of carrying on a lengthy affair with a prostitute in New Orleans's French Quarter.

In a radio interview, Vitter called the allegation "absolutely and completely untrue" and dismissed it as "just crass Louisiana politics."

21. Just like Libby had to go to jail.
Just like Gonzales was forced to resign in shame for being the Nation's Chief Law Officer and boldfacedly lying to Congressional Committees. He'll do a little public Jimmy Swaggart-style boo-hoo-hooin' and weepily ask Jay-zuz for forgiveness and keep on shovelling the pork to his state.

27. Doubtful
The fact that he admitted his guilt before someone called him out shows he wants to hold on to the seat. He isn't up for reelection until 2010, and even if he were to resign, he would likely wait until next year when there may be a Republican Governor to pick his replacement.
