I almost wish Darth Cheney WAS running for President....
That way, at least we'd all be spending our time digging up dirt on an already filthy, unloved Veep...and we wouldn't be busy hunting for tiny flaws in our OWN nominees' respective armour.

My fear is, if Fred Thompson or some other annointed conservacrap DOES announce he's running for president, the entire right wing will march behind him in lockstep, as they always do...while we'll be too busy ripping the Democratic nominees to pieces in order to get our act together in time to form some sort of consensus--like WE always do. (In California, that's EXACTLY what got us another 4 years under the Terminator.) I'm not even going to go into the Sheehan vs. Pelosi mess, but it sounds like it's coming from the same basic place.

It reminds of a saying I heard or made up somewhere: "A Republican thinks his candidate is God. A Democrat KNOWS his candidate isn't God--and he can't stand it!"

(Sorry, I just had a look at the "Obama is a homophobe!" thread, a basic retread of the infamous "Edwards's house is too big!" thread and multiple "Hillary is Bush in a dress!" threads, and it was enough to spurn me into a little rant.)
