Is there anyone in public life on either side of the aisle who ever does something out of an actual sense of decency?
I have yet to hear of such a thing. Even Live Earth was slammed by the usual suspects as a ploy to make Gore even richer, etc.
Hagel says the right thing - "he's a blowhard" Biden says something good - "he's a plaigerizing blowhard with bad hair" And don't get me started on Clinton and Obama! Th vitriol is appalling.
It seems that as soon as someone does anything imperfect, from that moment forward everything they do is really BS. It's like we have a Greek chorus ready to chime in with the standard lines. Pick a candidate, chant the "oh he/she is perfect" chorus for him/her, and the "sucks big time" one for all the others.
Can we not get it that our very form of government demands reasonable discourse, the distillation of ideas in the collective minds of the populace through constructive consideration? We don't select one and only one perfect leader - that was the "rule by divine right" concept we rejected!
I suppose when Edison failed to create a successful lightbulb on his second or third try that made him a blowhard.
We desperately need those actually on the stage, those actually in the play*, to turn to the chorus and say "oh, just shut up; we're working on it"
*meaning We the People
