ED SCHULTZ: "Hillary's Staff - Treat Us Like Dirt"
Liberal talk show host trashes Clinton's staff, sends out photo with Obama

John Byrne
Published: Tuesday January 23, 2007

Fargo's liberal talker Ed Schultz broke out enraged against the staff of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) in remarks broadcast Tuesday -- and then met this morning with Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), RAW STORY has learned.

Schultz sent the photograph to RAW STORY this morning. His comments about Sen. Clinton's staff follow.

Convincing Hillary Clinton and her arrogant handlers of that is a different battle in itself. We are known for connecting with the newsmakers as well as any talk show.

Many of you have requested hearing from Hillary on progressive talk especially The Ed Schultz Show. I want you to know our producer James Holm tirelessly works the contacts and has repeatedly tried to connect with Clinton's people.

Cutting to the chase, Hillary's people treat us like dirt. We are constantly disregarded, told things that aren't true, and given speculation an interview might happen someday.

Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. This morning I watched Hillary Clinton tell CNN she is accessible. What? To the TV cameras yes, to the base of loyal listeners on progressive talk radio, absolutely not!

3. I heard that
too. What he said about the staff is true but he also said that Hillary was extremely nice to him and Wendy. I guess Raw story is breaking it too hard ... ???

10. She's been on his show before
I assume Ed gets like this when he gets brushed off.

Still, Ol' Hilly should stop kissing ass to the same wonks who bash her behind her back and get on liberal radio shows and perhaps explain why she voted for the IWR, among other things. She needs to appeal to the base.

Liberals don't really trust her. She's way too establishment.

4. Hey Ed, I have a news flash for you
"This morning I watched Hillary Clinton tell CNN she is accessible. What? To the TV cameras yes, to the base of loyal listeners on progressive talk radio, absolutely not!"

Hillary isn't a progressive.

5. I stand corrected.......
I went over to Ed's Message Board and sure-enough; Homey has made the announce a major issue at their Forum.

Thus, it is true.

17. Apparently it's what's for breakfast in liberal-land..
The eating of our own is a delicacy of we liberals, apparently. I naseously watch this on DU every election season. The republicans suck.. but at LEAST they don't tear things apart for their own selfish interests, they know how to win (even if they have to grit their teeth to do it).

7. Which Tuesday?
I must've missed it. I'm a little surprised, but only just a little. In the past he's been supportive of Senator Clinton. But I'd bet that if/when he has her on, kisses will be flying through the airwaves.

Personally, I like Ed's show--the show, Big Eddie not as much. I listen more to hear the callers than I do to hear Ed go on about himself and his hobbies. But some of his opening rants, whooooboy!

11. You should have heard him tear Hannity a new one the other day
Insannity ripped Schultz on his show and said that the liberal talk format is dying. Schultz fired back that he kicked Insannity's ass in the ratings in several key markets, including Minneapolis, where his 1,000 watt AM affiliate beat Hannity's show on a 100,000 watt FM station.

Here's the audio. It is damned good:

And the aforementioned Hilly article:

12. Thanks! Just heard Ed on the phone w/Trupiano talking about
Hillary's handlers. He's not a happy camper about it. He said Harry Reid's been on 15 times, said Carl Levin (and named a couple of others) have all been on. Ed says she needs to "talk with her base".

I wonder which radio shows she's been on? From a politcal standpoint, I can understand why her 'handlers' have said no so far. She's been fighting against the RW talking point of her being from the left-wing of the Liberals. They've changed it the past several months to that she's 'moving to the center'. Puhleeze! She's ALWAYS been a hair left of center.

9. Being disregarded is being "treated like dirt"?
Methinks Ed is a little high on the horse.

13. Anyone read Larry Johnson's take on it
Confirmed my opinion of "Big Ego" being a small small man.

16. Johnson is spot on
I stopped listening to "Big Ego" because he became too full of himself.

His show has become one big "me, me, me" fest.

15. well I'm really mixed about this
I agree with Ed that Hillary has an air of elitism when it comes to dealing with the media that her competitors in the race like Obama and Edwards to not. I think if Hillary is our nominee access will be very controlled and further access will depend on whether interviewers "don't go there" on several issues. The same type of control we see often with Republicans.

But as for Ed, he's becoming more and more detestable, imo. The Phoenix radio blow-up, the ignorance when it came to the reaction to Saddam's hanging, Larry Johnson, him being a conservative talker orginally, espousing a few too many conservative thoughts, joking about turning Iran into glass, etc. I'll listen to him when he's on the local station, but I certainly don't seek him out if I miss his broadcast like I have with others.

18. But he's also become much more liberal, something I never thought would happen.
A year or so ago I couldn't listen to Schultz, he was far too moderate for my liberal taste....but somewhere along the way Shultz has really gone almost completely to the left which makes me and other progressive radical liberals much happier.

His strong support of UNIONS convinces me he's slowly but surely really getting it!
