Is it still true that some employers like IBM Corp. put a lot of faith in
their own testing procedures and if a non college type does well on their in house tests they could very well hire them? IBM hired me that very way in 1960.
I suspect that in some jobs a degree might be a detriment. IBM did hire college grads for the job they gave me, but they frowned on employees giving out their salary data so it could be that they paid the grads more.
I have consistently earned more than the majority of those with one over the last 25 years, at least those who started out where I did, not born with a silver coke spoon in their nose.
