Agreed. I knew she was a Dem, but she's not been very vocal about it. ;) That said, I have yet to purchase a CD. Perhaps it's time?

15. I think that with the President's low approval ratings, more
moderate celebrities are going to be speaking out against the Pres, especially on this immigration nonsense.

Go Faith!!

19. You are so correct...but it's our job to make sure she doesn't get "Dixie Chicked"
We need to send a clear message to all these country music radio stations that the country music community is NOT a monolithic group.

And just like the pro-Bush musicians have a right to speak out in support of Bush (albeit I disagree with them wholeheartedly), the anti-Bush musicians have a right to speak out as well. It's not up to the Program Directors at country music radio stations, to tell these musicians what their politics should be.

So we need to support Tim and Faith, to make sure they don't get Dixie Chicked.

7. Yep--I've heard that Tim was a big fan of Bill Clinton's, and they both
took the Chimperator to task for Katrina. Funny they suffered no backlash from Nashville.

8. They were pretty cautious about how they went about the Katrina thing.
Also, even Fox News took Bush and co. to task on that. At least until they were told to blame the Governor. :hi:

Faith Hill: 'I Fear for Our Country'
THURSDAY MARCH 09, 2006 08:00 AM EST

By Todd Peterson

Country-music heavyweights Faith Hill and Tim McGraw let loose with their feelings about the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort Wednesday, calling the slow-going work "embarrassing" and "humiliating," ABC News reports.

The husband-and-wife stars were in Nashville to discuss their upcoming Soul2Soul II Tour, but when reporters asked about the cleanup efforts in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast, both responded with emotions that ranged from rage to sadness.

"To me, there's a lot of politics being played and a lot of people trying to put people in bad positions to further their agendas," McGraw told ABC.

-snip-

clearly frustrated Hill, who is a native of Jackson, Miss., broke down at one point, swearing and calling the government's efforts "screwed up."

"It is a huge, huge problem and it's embarrassing," Hill said. "I fear for our country if we can't handle our people (during) a natural disaster."

The criticism was uncharacteristic of either performer, both of whom usually avoid political discussions, although both have been active in raising money and volunteering for Katrina cleanup efforts.

McGraw singled out President Bush directly, wondering aloud why the leader of the free world can't hold someone accountable for the cleanup.

Faith Hill, Tim McGraw Blast 'Humiliating' Katrina Cleanup
Country Stars Lash Out in Anger Over Conditions in Storm-Ravaged States

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw -- two stars who usually stay out of politics -- blasted the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort, with Hill calling the slow progress in Louisiana and Mississippi "embarrassing" and "humiliating."

The country music artists -- who are natives of the storm-ravaged states -- were at times close to tears, and clearly angry when the subject of Katrina came up during a news conference today. They had met with reporters in Nashville to promote their upcoming Soul2Soul II Tour, but when asked about the hurricane cleanup, the stars pulled no punches.

-snip-

"To me, there's a lot of politics being played and a lot of people trying to put people in bad positions in order to further their agendas," McGraw, a 38-year-old native of Delhi, La., said after ABC News Radio's Dan Gordon asked about Katrina.

"When you have people dying because they're poor and black or poor and white, or because of whatever they are -- if that's a number on a political scale -- then that is the most wrong thing. That erases everything that's great about our country."

McGraw specifically criticized President Bush. "There's no reason why someone can't go down there who's supposed to be the leader of the free world … and say, 'I'm giving you a job to do and I'm not leaving here until it's done. And you're held accountable, and you're held accountable, and you're held accountable.

"'This is what I've given you to do, and if it's not done by the time I get back on my plane, then you're fired and someone else will be in your place. '"

42. I saw her 8mos pregnant and without makeup. OMG!!!
I was working at Cheyenne Frontier Days, Tim was the headliner that night and as we were setting up she and Tim came out of their bus to check on the progress. At the sight of her all work stopped.

That morning she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. No makeup, hair just combed not styled and dressed in a long loose fitting maternity dress yet she just radiated beauty. You could see that she was happy about soon becoming a mother that they adored each other. I never really like Tim McGraw but after that day I had a lot more respect for him. :)

Not much on country music, but I am big on appreciating gutsy performers. Challenging the country music Bush worshippers is indeed gutsy, and maybe the country singers with brains and backbone can tour together.

51. Yeah, I hope not...
I remember thinking about how stupid it was when the FReeper-types were using that particular attack line on the Dixie Chicks. "They bashed our Prez-nit on foreign SOIL!!!!!11" Yeah, in that evil, fascist dictatorship we call England! But I wouldn't be shocked to see them attack Faith Hill from the same angle. Nothing really surprises me that much now...

39. Triple Love Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
They made no bones about how they felt about Katrina and it made me respect them both all the more. They put their money where their mouth was and loaded up 18-wheelers and drove the provisions down their themselves. One can hardly criticize that or if you do, it just shows what kind of asshole you are!
