Jim Sell, 63, died Feb. 4 after being shot to death by Massachusetts fugitive Jacob Robida. Robida, 18, shot Sell during a traffic stop before turning the gun on himself and a female passenger. All three died.
A police officer's memorial flag will be flown on Sunday on the city flag pole in honor of Sell. The flag also is flown during police officer's memorial week in May and on his birthday, June 21, said Gassville Police Chief Tim Mayfield.
The incident brought sudden national attention to the city, as Robida allegedly attacked three people in a Massachusetts bar before driving through Arkansas.

A sign in front of a Gassville business last February shows support for Jim Sell and his family.A committee decided to honor Sell with a memorial and set up a fund for community donations. The granite monument was installed in June near the park's entrance. The memorial, which was dedicated during Gassville in the Park, an annual celebration is surrounded by paving stones and benches.
"He was a friend," Mershon said. "He was a great loss to the community."
