Supreme Court Loosens Restrictions on Corporate- and Union-Funded Election Ads

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court loosened restrictions Monday on corporate- and union-funded television ads that air close to elections, weakening a key provision of a landmark campaign finance law.

2. Thank God we kept our powder dry
and didn't do anything to stop Alito and Roberts getting on the SCOTUS. Because now we can use that powder for absolutely fucking nothing. Man I really don't like the Dem leadership right now.

6. Oh- but we didn't have a majority then!

So obviously our representatives were powerless to do anything. Of course, the Republican minority seems to be capable of stopping all sorts of things, and is in fact the excuse used by our own representatives whenever they choose not to push the agenda they claim to espouse.

5. The Dems keep waiting to do something.
This isn't the battle they want to fight, there are others more important.

They are going to use their majority status to push through the really important things.

Meanwhile, all the little things are eroding away under their feet. What the Dems don't realize is the ground they're standing on is about to give way, and then they won't be able to do anything. Majority or not.

What the hell are you waiting for, Dems?

Condi has ignored her subpoena.

Gonzalez hasn't responded to Waxman regarding Cheney's records violations. And he's had since January to do it.

When will enough be enough?

And you Dems are counting on us to vote for you again in 2008? What for? So you can ignore us for a couple more years?

7. Thank you St. Ralph. And everyone thinks Roe v Wade was the main issue .....
The right wing is most assuredly in charge of the court and will be for, essentially, a generation. I think Roe v Wade will stand but that this sort of 'small' decision will be made on a regular and ongoing basis, essentially eroding much of the good accomplished over the last 75 years or so.

The fact that Alito and Roberts were confirmed will be a stain on the record of the Congress for as long as their influence is felt. These two men - and the cowards that allowed them to serve - will the subject of (at least my) disdain for years.

Thanks St. Ralph, you egotistical motherfucker. No difference? Fuck you. I blame YOU above all others.

8. My number one issue in 2008 was SCOTUS. I knew they'd be pulling this kind of stuff
Edited on Mon Jun-25-07 10:13 AM by blondeatlast
under the radar. This is the stuff that scares me; the stuff Joe Six doesn't comprehend too well.

Besides, the RRR desperately needs Roe to stand in order to raise money from the suckers. It's the other stuff that scares me silly.

9. I can't understand======
since democrats were put into office to stop the run a way republicans, how come they aren't doing it. The republicans slash, dash and burn any democrat they feel like it and the democrats sit back and answer politely.

They have got to take the fight to the republicans. Tell it like it is. Force the media to give our side. I can't understand why some democrats don't get together and buy out a damn TV station and spread the word. Until we get the media to tell America the truth we will never be able to straighten this country out. Corporations have taken over and it has got to stop.
