Democratic Billionaires
I saw this morning that the family that owns the Dow Jones Industrial Index may be close to a deal with Rupert Murdoch that would allow Murdoch to buy the Wall Street Journal. This and the fact that Murdoch has been trying to buy the paper for a few months caused me to have a question. Why do Democratic billionaires not try to do what Murdoch and other Republican billionaire do? Why don't more Democratic billionaires try to buy newspapers and media stations? It seems that they could do so just to keep some of the major newspapers and TV stations out of the hands of the Republican billionaires. Warren Buffet could have either tried to buy the Tribune company or he could still try to buy the Wall Street Journal. The Wall Street Journal is a business paper so it seems like it would be a good fit for Buffet. There are a number of Democratic billionaires, but none or very few of them seem to want to buy into the news media and prevent Republicans from increasing their ownership control over the media.

1. Democratic billionares won't do it unless they are assured of a large profit. Republican billionares
are more than willing to subsidize their propaganda, knowing that they can get their profit through the promotion of their propaganda.

4. I know, look at Moon & Scaife
Moon loses a good $100 million or more per year on the Washington Times, but keeps it going because he knows how valuable they are as a RW propaganda rag.

2. What Democratic Billionaires???? LOL!
...in the past half century or more, Dems are not the rich ones. I know there are a few, but for the most part the rich are Republicans. Because Republicans want to protect their right to have millions more than they could possibly need, while Dems want to share it.

3. It goes to the same
question of why do assholes like Rush Limbaugh make millions spewing their garbage? Ignorant conservatives are willing to pay for this shit. Democrats are not willing to pay to listen to the antidote.

5. Buffett May Call Himself A Democrat
but I am sure that his money is non-partisan. Also, what's the upside for Buffett to own a company that would need a lot of money to modernize and still have a meddling family on the board of directors.

BTW...Sam Zell...bought the Chicago Tribune...and according to opensecrets he just tossed some bucks into the '08 Race...

Ironically Zell's son just gave $4600 to Hillary Clinton (the same amount Buffett threw her way in January)...talk about hedging one's bets.

8. Just started reading "The Assualt on Reason" and I agree. What
will happen to the WSJ if murdock buys it is the same thing that happened to many of his purchases: disrespect.
