Richard Vedder on CNN, saying "the economy is great for the American people...
and the middle and lower classes too..."

I wish I had written the direct quote down, but he clearly separated "American people" with "middle and lower classes". Why was he inconsistent on terminology? Is "upper class" too much to say? He even agreed that to get to "the upper middle class or beyond, one needs to be educated" and despite that still sidestepping the cost of education and other issues that really ARE hurting the middle and lower classes, sorry.

He is right, though - savings are taxed more than consumption, and people are happier with what they spend than what they earn. But we're stuck in the middle, how do we earn more when costs are astronomical, beyond the ability to get credit for the education?

When will somebody do something? Bush says corporations have to do it and corporations want Bush to do something about it. Which is funny, the identical argument has been going on with global warming; Bush in the past ending protection laws saying corporations will voluntarily do it when - you guess it - nothing's been done.

My sense of outrage is growing at these idiots, don't they realize that this let them eat cake attitude will lead to a very bloody revolution sooner or later?

5. Some old blubber-ridden 50-something...
Like Rush Limbaugh only not as bombastic and his countenance gives me reason to exercise; I don't want to look like THAT 20 years from now! Assuming we're all still alive...

I have no idea who he is or how he thinks everything is so well or how he makes his comparisons (he was saying how we the working class can buy things now that only the rich could one generation ago... this voiceover was done over clips of tv sets and other things... Now unless a generation to him is 50 years (try 20 or 25...), he's out of touch.

3. Obviously another one of the well-to-do telling the working people
of the world that they're doing GREAT! Except for the decline in health care, decreased opportunity for education and training, longer work hours for less pay, and all those meaningless trifles, of course.

Blow me, Vedder.

4. So there really are two Americas?
I am hoping that even though he refers to the upper class as American people and then adds even for the middle and lower classes he does not mean to imply that only the wealthy can be called the American People and the rest of us just spoken of as classes.

6. As much as I want to entertain the concept it was an innocent slip of words,
I couldn't. Too many talking points and inability to answer direct questions gives him away.

11. I'm with you.
It stuck out like a neon sign on a dark, deserted roadway. I don't know if he meant it or not but it would not surprise me. Still, even to phrase things this way implies it and we all know how good they are at framing and spin. I would raise my hand if asked who believes this is what they meant.
